ARE YOU REALLY HUNGRY?

ARE YOU REALLY HUNGRY?

You know, sometimes I just don't know when I'm hungry or if I'm hungry.   To be honest, I don't think I've ever been hungry in my life but that is another story.

An hour or so ago, I started THINKING, "I'm hungry.  What could I eat low carb?"  Well, I have some sausage that I eat sometimes for breakfast.  I would have loved a bag of Cheetos.   And I could almost taste Tater Tots from Sonic.

Fortunately, I am not able to leave my office once I get here at 4 or 5 in the morning.

I have my lunch I could eat but it was only 1030 and I had already had my protein shake at 4am and my breakfast around 8.  Was I really hungry?

I looked in the cabinets and saw 4 boxes of oatmeal, some crystal light, and that was about it.   But then I saw two boxes of tea:  Pomegranate and Vanilla Chai.

One of my favorite drinks from Whole Foods is their Vanilla Chai.   It's not tea.  It tastes like my mother's egg custard.  I know...I'm wandering away from that hunger I thought I was feeling.  I must say a 16 ounce bottle of it will last me a week.  Just one swallow every day or two.   Yummmm

So I decided, let me try drinking some Vanilla Chai tea.   I made me a cup, added a little Sweet Leaf and returned to my desk.   It took me about an hour to finish it and you know what?

When I finished I wasn't hungry.  I wasn't feeling deprived.   I wasn't even thinking about food.

Am I the only one this happens to?   Sometimes I realize I am eating and I feel so full I'm miserable.

Day by day.  Step by step.  Always learning.

THE MAGIC IS IN YOU!

THE MAGIC IS IN YOU!

I wish I could teach overweight people what it has taken me 53 years to learn.

There is no magic pill.  There!  I said it!  That is the child in you using magical thinking.  When you are a child you can apportion responsibility to others.  But when you become an adult, all the responsibility lies with you and you alone.  You are the only one who can change what you eat.  Are there products that can help you lose weight?  Yes, and I found a great one in Skinny Fiber.  Because of its ingredients, it has helped me become so much healthier aside from the weight loss.

I always had reasons (excuses) why I was overweight.  Whatever the reason was, it wasn’t my fault.  My favorite was “I don’t really eat that much”.    Which was true, if you added “at meals”.    I have always been a secret eater.   I don’t eat much at meals but if I’m by myself, I can put the food away.

Another favorite was “I have slow metabolism”.  True, my metabolism was slow but I did nothing to help it.  I lived on carbs and diet soda and my exercise consisted of getting up and going to the kitchen!

I loved this one.  “I have a longer intestine than most people.  The food stays in there longer so I absorb more calories.”  Sounds great and of course, it succeeded in the responsibility for being overweight placed on a part of my body instead of me.

I would proclaim, “I eat healthy.”  Well, I did like fruit and did eat some vegetables.  But having an extra large pizza topped with lots of vegetables and eating the whole thing is not really eating healthy.

Losing weight is not an overnight journey.  Gaining it wasn’t and neither is losing it.  If you truly want to lose weight and keep it off, then you have to make changes.  Skinny Fiber provided the impetus for me to start my last weight loss journey that is more like a leisurely walk than a sprint.

First you have to decide that all the excuses are going to be placed in the garbage.  You have to own responsibility for your own body.    You have to believe that you are worthy and deserve to be healthy.  Then you have to start making better choices.  You don’t have to do everything at once.  When I started Skinny Fiber, the only journey I was on was to prove them wrong and get my money back.    The only thing I changed was drinking 150 ounces of water daily and taking 2 Skinny Fiber capsules twice a day.  I did that for an entire month.  I ate whatever I wanted but I stopped when I started feeling full.

After seeing that I had lost 10 pounds the first month, I knew I could do this.  The days turned in to weeks and the weeks into months.  I started making better choices about my food and food intake.  I have learned to listen to my body.  Unfortunately for me, my body does not digest or process carbs very well.  Now that doesn’t mean I never eat carbs.  I do but not every day and when I eat them, it is in moderation.

When you lose weight slowly, like you probably gained it, your body adjusts.  Even when you do overeat on occasion, you probably won’t gain a pound.  Now if you go on a food fest for a week, well, you know what happens.

All my life I wanted that magic pill; that magic something.  I remember after losing about 40 lost pounds, I just got it.  There is nothing and I mean nothing magical that is going to take the fat away.  The magic is in you.  Once you realize that, you will be empowered.  You will know that you can change your weight, your health and your life.  Could I have done it without  Skinny Fiber?  I doubt it.  I’ve never been able to in the past.  But I get it now.  It’s about responsibility.  Being responsible for taking my Skinny Fiber, for drinking my water, for moving my body and for the choices I make regarding my food.

And when I do that, do you know what happens?  MAGIC!  My life has become magical.  The magic truly is in me.  And it is in your too!  If you need help getting on the path to finding the magic in you, contact me.  I will help you wherever you are.  Choose to find the magic in you and become that healthy person that already lives in you and is yearning to break free!

BUT I WANT TO EAT OUT

BUT I WANT TO EAT OUT!

We all do.  However, it is very difficult to eat out all the time and lose weight.  There are several reasons why and I’m gonna tell you what they are!  I have friends tell me how they want to lose weight and then they eat out 4-6 times a week and usually at unhealthy restaurants.  I’m sorry to be the one to tell but you will not lose weight.

First, you don’t know what goes in the food you eat at fast food places or even restaurants!  And you certainly don’t know how many calories you are consuming!  I heard just this morning that one of the burgers at Red Robin has 3500 calories!  3500 CALORIES!!!!  That is 2 ½ days for me in one meal!  No thanks!  A 4 piece steak finger basket at DQ has 1600 calories!  Go ahead and eat it if you must!  But realize you shouldn’t put another thing (but water) in your mouth until the following day!  Oh, and these totals don’t include a sugary drink!  Besides all the calories you consume, you are not going to feel good.  Most restaurants don’t use fresh whole foods.  I know I know!  There are a few who do but trust me they still have dishes with umpteen calories and you know those ooey gooey selections are the ones we fat people want!

When you are trying to lose weight you should eat at home for the most part and cook your meals for breakfast and lunch to take with you.  When you cook, you know what ingredients you are using.  You don’t have to guess about any secret ingredients that will wreck whatever eating program you are on.  Also when you cook at home, you can use whole foods.  Real foods.  Foods that aren’t processed and full of chemicals.  Food that your body naturally knows how to break down and digest.

The last thing is portion control.  Most meals at restaurants are not portioned for one meal.  When I do eat out, the first thing I do when my meal arrives is ask for a to-go box.  Then I take half the food and put it in the carton to take home.  I only eat half of what I ordered for my meal.  I might not know exactly how many calories are in the meal or what “extras” were added, but I know I have cut the calories by half!  Sometimes I actually get 3 meals out of their one serving!

Now, I admit it is much easier for me to do this since I started taking Skinny Fiber over a year ago because it helps me feel full faster.  However, I portion my breakfast and lunch servings when I cook them at home.  I don’t want to guess.  I want to know that when I eat a bowl of homemade chili for lunch it is only 1 cup.  And trust me that takes some getting used to!  Find you a container and fill it with 8 ounces.  I’m betting it’s not what you are used to eating.  I know I was shocked!

Eating is not supposed to be a sport to stuff ourselves until we are so miserable we can hardly walk!  It is to nourish our bodies and give us energy.  Staying away from restaurants and fast food places helps.  So does buying whole foods and cooking at home.

If you are truly serious about losing weight, start out by only eating what you prepare at home.  You’ll save money and lose weight!

MY ONE YEAR WEIGHT LOSS ANNIVERSARY!

MY ONE YEAR WEIGHT LOSS ANNIVERSARY!

Yes, today it has been 1 year since I started losing weight with Skinny Fiber.
I was just so miserable when I started.  I was close to 300 pounds.  I couldn’t move very easily and when I did, I would hurt for hours afterwards.  I had already declared in January of 2013 I was done with dieting and would just die fat.  My self-esteem was in the toilet and I had little of the confidence I once exuded.  And then I saw something online about Skinny Fiber.

I thought, ok, I’ll try it for a month but I’m not changing what I eat.  I knew and expected that I would be sending it back for my refund within 30 days.   So that first 30 days I changed nothing about my eating.  I took Skinny Fiber, drank about 150 ounces of water a day.  What I found was that I didn’t crave the same things I had been and I was eating less.  I lost 10 pounds the first month.

Within 3 days of starting I had given up my 50 year old habit of diet sodas.  I would drink 6-10 cans a day of it.  No withdrawals at all!   In 3 weeks I was off two blood pressure medications.  When I started my blood pressure was 160/90 (with meds).   I stopped taking them when it reached 90/45.  After my second month I decided to eat low carb and high protein because I’m a diabetic.  It has done wonders for my blood sugar.  By the end of the year I plan to be off those meds too.  And even my thyroid medication has been decreased.

I did absolutely no exercise for 11 months and lost 50 pounds.  I still weighed close to 240 even after losing 50 pounds.  The first of June I started jogging.  I started at ½ mile.  In a week I was at 1 mile.  This week I will increase to 1.1 mile.  Now I am working on reducing my time.  Every week I will increase .1 mile.   I even started doing squats last week!  I’m not great at the yet but I will be!  I can feel my from thigh muscles contracting every time I do one!

This is the first time in my 53 years of being obese that I have stayed with a weight loss plan for a year!  THE VERY FIRST TIME!   I have never considered quitting not once.  From the beginning I have called this my last weight loss journey.  And it is.

And on those days when I just want to stuff my face because of some issue that is confronting me, you know what I do?  I look at the issue and figure out what it is about.   And when my mind tries to convince me not to jog, I ignore those thoughts and sometimes I just tell them to shut up!  When I’m jogging and out of breath, I don’t think about what people will think seeing me jog.  I just repeat out loud over and over.  YOU CAN DO THIS!   YOU CAN DO THIS!
This is what I want everyone who reads my blog, my Facebook, my Twitter, my Pinterest Page, my Fan Page ,  my Weight Loss Support group, or who sees me on the street, sees me at the grocery store, at the mall, etc. :

I am 61 years old.  I have lived my life waiting for something magical to happen to release this tiny person who has lived inside me all my life.  And I finally found it.  The magic is ME!   Skinny Fiber is not magical.  It is a tool, just like exercise and Fitbit.   I am the magic.  I always had the magic.  It was always inside me.  I just didn’t believe it.  Now I know the truth and I want to help as many people as I can realize it, find it and experience it.

YOU ARE THE MAGIC!  You, and you alone can become the tiny healthy person that lives inside your body that has been covered by layers and layers of fat.  As those layers come off, slowly but surely the real you will emerge.  It won’t be in a week or a month.  It might take a couple of years.  So what?  That just gives you time to become accustomed to the beautiful you that is emerging from that cocoon of fat.  By the time you complete your journey, your wings will be strong and you will soar to heights you only dreamed up.

Grab hold and believe that the Magic is YOU.  I’m here to help you any way I can.  You can do this!  I’m living proof!

I FEEL GOOD!

I FEEL GOOD!

Today my boss asked me, "why do you want to jog?"  I thought about that for a minute.  There are several reason why.

The last time I had run was when I was 10 years old in a relay race.  I want to see if I could do it again at 61.   I've always thought running/jogging would be BORING.  I was shocked.  I love being outside looking at the grass, the branches on the sidewalk, the butterfly that flew by our faces last night.  Now, I'm not sure I would like jogging on a treadmill.  It's the being outside that I love.  I have actually realized that I really enjoy jogging.

I can't tell you what a great feeling it is to be out shaking my tail feathers around the neighborhood.  I really hope I inspire one or two to get out and walk the neighborhood.  I hope they say, “If she can do it, I can do it!”  That would be a bonus!

I know that you can get injured, you can fall, you can injure your knees.  I'm not worried.  And you know what?  I don't care.  I take precautions and warm up.  I am no longer denying myself any experiences that previously kept me on the sidelines, just watching.  Even at my age, I can choose to live life fully.  And for me, right now, that includes jogging.  And I feel good about it.

Watch out world, I’m finally ready to conquer you!

SOMETIMES YOU JUST AREN’T READY TO LOSE WEIGHT

SOMETIMES YOU JUST AREN’T READY TO LOSE WEIGHT

That’s right.  If you are ready to get healthy, nothing, AND I MEAN NOTHING, will get in your way.  Sure you will have set-backs.  Sure you will falter.  But if you get back up and journey on, you will reach your goal.

What I have seen with others and myself is that we look at others achieving their goals with regards to losing weight and getting healthy.  Here are some of the comments I have said or I have heard others say on why they aren’t getting healthy when others are.
1. She’s a lot younger than me.
2. I’m on thyroid medicine.  It’s almost impossible for me to lose weight.
3. I have children at home; her kids are grown.
4. I have to cook for my family.  They won’t eat what is on my food plan.
5. I don’t like to drink water.
6.   It hurts my knees (feet, arms, toes, head, joints, etc) to exercise.
7. I don’t have time to exercise.
8. I know Skinny Fiber works for you, but I just forget to take those darn capsules twice a day.
9. If I had a cook and personal trainer, I could get healthy too.
10. I just like to eat too much to get healthy.

You know what these are called?  Excuses.  That’s right. They are just excuses.  Sometimes you just aren’t ready to lose weight.  You can say the words, “I wish I was smaller” or “I wish I could lose weight”.  YOU CAN!  But until you are ready and decide this is what you are going to do, it won’t work.  I know.  I lived it for 53 years.
Several things changed my mind and got me ready to face this challenge head on.  One of my best friends died last year at the age of 63.  Just a baby, she was.  She was severely overweight for the 30+ years I knew her.  She finally started losing weight when she began dying.  It broke my heart.  My children are only in their 20’s.  Neither is married yet or has children.  I want to be around when they get married and make me a grandmother.  I want to be able to travel without asking for an extender belt (I reached this goal Aug 2013!).  I want to be able to sightsee when I travel without hating how awful I feel after walking a couple of blocks.  Last summer I found this amazing product, Skinny Fiber, which has been a great tool in my LAST weight loss journey!  Not magic.  Just a tool.  And finally, I was just sick and tired of being sick and tired.

It has taken me a year of losing weight to get to the point that I could and even wanted to start moving.  And now that I have, I remember that exhilarating feeling I experienced 14 years ago when I was exercising.

Here is my advice to you.  No one can convince you to start getting healthy.  That is something only you can decide.  If you want to start out with simple things, try these two things.  It will get you started.  If you cut out 100 calories a day (that’s one soda a day), you will lose 10 pounds in a year.   Anytime you have to park your car, put it twice as far away as you normally do.  Those two things will help you start getting healthy…if you want to.  The decision is yours.

I’ve been wherever you are.  In 2012 I weighed 317 pounds.   I now weight 237.  I have 53 more pounds to go.  I’ve done so much damage to my body trying to become “normal” instead of trying to be healthy:  every diet out there, hypnosis, starvation, exercising 5-6 hours a day, bariatric surgery, all kinds of diet pills, and on and on.  The truth is, to get healthy is long term project; a work in progress.  It is not a quick fix.  You have to eat right the majority of the time and you have to move.

Are you ready to get healthy?  If that is your goal, then you will do it.  Let nothing stand in your way.  NOTHING.  If you falter, get back up.  Start anew.  If you are moving forward you are making progress.   When you are ready, and you need help, someone to talk to, or someone just to listen, shoot me a message @ caryncan@gmail.com.  I’ll be here for you.

DO YOU CHOOSE FAILURE OR SUCCESS?

DO YOU CHOOSE FAILURE OR SUCCESS?

This is the question I have recently began to ask myself.

Over 50 years of being overweight and I think I am finally getting it.  I have spent my life on and off of diets because I failed.  How many of us have been on a healthy eating plan to lose weight and we have that day where we eat too much or eat sweets that we tell ourselves we shouldn’t?  At the end of the day, we feel guilty, unworthy and a failure.  We beat ourselves up badly.  And then we quit.  It might be months or even years before we try to lose weight again.

What happens?  We quit eating healthy.  We start eating out of control, sometimes binging.  We have to buy bigger clothes.  We stop even weighing.  We dread looking in the mirror.  We tend to pick that part of our bodies that we like no matter what.  Mine was my eyes.  We hate going to the dr; we might even put it off as long as we can.  Why?  You know why.  They are going to weigh us.  And again, we will be humiliated.  They will know what we already know:  WE ARE A FAILURE.

I have been losing weight this time, my last weight loss journey, for almost a year.  I decided that this time I was going to do it differently.  No food would be off limits.  I had finally figured out something.  When there are foods that “aren’t allowed”, we want them more.  After a while, whether a day, a week or a month, we start feeling punished.  We tell ourselves we deserve to eat whatever it is.  And you know that is a short conversation.  Because we feel we have been denied, we usually eat that food like we will never have it again.

This time I told myself that no food was off limits.  If I want a cookie, I eat a cookie.  I have learned that with that freedom to have the food, I’m much less likely to gorge myself with it.  Notice I said “much less likely”.  I have had a few moments where I overate.   But not once this past year have I felt like I did in the past:  that I was a failure and I should just quit.   That is so amazing to me!  I am now able to say, “tomorrow’s a new day and I’ll start again.”  What freedom that has brought me.

Things that are not allowed because much more important in our lives.  When they are allowed, they lose that power over us.  We can have them, even if we overeat them on occasion.  Someday I know I will reach that point where I still eat the “forbidden” foods, but I don’t gorge myself on them.

Do a little experiment.  Try allowing “forbidden” foods on your food plan.  You can’t do it every day but certainly occasionally you can.  See if it helps you.  I’d love to hear from you.

WE ARE JUST TOO FAT!

WE ARE JUST TOO FAT!

Right at 39% of American adults are obese.  For American children the rate is 33%!     We've known for years that adults are getting fatter in our country.  But our children??   Do we continue to just eat ourselves to death?

What kind of adult life will our children have if they start out in their 20's already obese?  Can you imagine how sad, difficult and yes, miserable their lives will be while trying to build a future?

I can tell you!  I know from experience!  I lived that life as a young adult, adult and even as a senior!  It is not a great way to live!  Whether you want to admit it or not, you get judged by your size.  Even diet doctors just you.  Strangers will walk up to you in a store and say, "You don't need to be eating that!"  or they will come up to you in a clothing store and say "We don't have anything for you in here!"

Yep, people are cruel.  And if you are obese, they are more cruel.  If you are obese or overweight or fat, fluffy or whatever makes you feel more comfortable, you should be setting the example for your children.  And what should you be doing for your children who are overweight?  Look into their sad eyes and think about how sad those eyes will be when they become an adult.

When I see a very obese child I just want to run up to them and hug them.  I want to tell them that there is another way!  I want to save them from years of heartache and illnesses.

If you have children in your life, YOU can help them.

1.  Set an example for them.
2.  Eat real food and take the processed food out of your (and their) diet.
3.  Get moving!  It doesn't have to be a marathon!  Just move!

Let's take on obesity!  Wouldn't our money be better spent on a war on obesity than a war on so many other things?  Let's start with ourselves and then help others to become healthy.

If we don't take care of our bodies, we will die.  It's just that simple.  When I realized that I AM WORTH IT I began to lose weight.  Skinny Fiber has been a great tool for me but it isn't a magic pill.

Decide today to lose weight and get healthy!  YOU CAN DO IT!

OVEREATING KILLS

OVEREATING KILLS

We all know that obesity is an epidemic in our country and around the world.  We all know that it causes so many illnesses and causes so many deaths.  We aren't just talking about adults here!  We are talking about children!  Our future!

When my best friend was fighting cancer, they told her family that she had cirrhosis of the liver.  They said, "How can that be?  She has never had a drink in her life.."   The dr. said, "it's because of the large amount of fat she carries."

If you want to know the truth, that scared me so badly.  When I found Skinny Fiber, it was a godsend.  I don't want to die of a stroke, a heart attack, diabetes, or cirrhosis.  I want to be healthy.  I want to live to see my grandchildren be born and become adults.  I want to live decades after I retire.

If you are battling this war with fat, please, please, choose to live healthy.  You deserve to have a life that is full of life!  I have told everyone, this is my last weight loss journey.  I have promised myself that I am going to get there no matter how long it takes.

Come join me.  Life is not just about food and eating.  It is about being healthy and living!

Join me in being healthy and living life.

BEING POSITIVE

BEING POSITIVE

Maybe it does for some, but for most of us, we have to choose and make a concerted effort to be positive! But we can do it! You just get up in the morning and said aloud, "Today I will be positive".
Now I'll tell you, it doesnt' change instantly. Like all good things, it takes time. I know! It doesn't seem right that negative things that root immediately and positive things that time. But that is the way it works. Once you start doing this everyday, you will find that the positive days far outnumber the negative days.
Try it. What do you have to lose other than bad days.

I HAVE A SECRET LOVER

I HAVE A SECRET LOVER

Yes, it’s true.  I do have a secret lover.  He belongs to me.  I don’t want to share him with anyone.  I don’t want anyone to know about him.  I want him to myself.  Alone.  I don’t even want other people to know he is with me.  Most ofTen I want him at night.  But not always.  And you know what?  Whenever I need him or want him, he is always there.  Ready to satisfy me.  My secret lover is FOOD.

I use food to feel the emptiness that I’m sometimes faced with.  When I use food to replace what I’m lacking, I never let others see me.  He’s mine.  All mine.  I don’t even want others to know this is what I do.  Because like all secret lovers, there is shame and regret after he visits.  A lover is a good thing.  Just like food is a good thing.  We have to have food to live; we have to have love to live.  But when it is done in secret, it is destructive.

I normally want my secret lover, food, in my bedroom.  I don’t want to talk to other people.  I certainly don’t want to share my lover with them.  I don’t even want them to know he is in my room with me.  How many times have I bought that food that was going to make me feel better and then had to replace it so no one in the house would know I ate an entire cake, or a gallon of ice cream or a bag of cookies?  How many times have I taken it outside to the garbage in the middle of the night, hidden in another bag, so no one would know?

I am tired of this secret lover.  He doesn’t love me.  He doesn’t like me.  He likes me fat.  He likes me miserable.  If I wasn’t fat and miserable, I wouldn’t need him.   He has caused me misery for decades.  Yet time after time when that hole deep inside just seems too much to bear, I really think at that moment he will feel me up.  He never does.  I feel worse after he is gone.

I have decided to get rid of my secret lover.  I thought about how I can do this?  I have to eat.  Right?  Now, I’ll tell you my plan but I admit I am very scared.  I have decided to never eat alone again.  No more eating in my bedroom.  No more eating at night when the house is quiet and everyone is asleep.  From now on, I am only going to eat out in the open, which is normally what I do unless I need my alone time with food.  When I stuff myself to try to fill that void.

I am going to say good-bye to my secret lover.  As I write this I have to admit I am crying.  I’m scared.  He’s been in my life for 53 years.  But I know, the time has come.  Like any secret lover, once you truly realize that they don’t love you, want you and are certainly not good for you, you have to make a choice.  Do you do what is good for YOU or do you stay and keep accepting what you have been?

I am going to let him go.  I don’t want him anymore.  I want to be complete without him.  I want to find something else to feel that black hole.  And I am going to do it.

Good-bye my secret lover.  It’s time for you to go.

A COUPLE OF NON-SCALE VICTORIES FOR ME

A COUPLE OF NON-SCALE VICTORIES FOR ME:

1. I can sit in ANY chair and cross my legs at the knee without it looking like a man.

2. I can sit in ANY chair without checking to see if it's wide enough or strong enough to hold me.

3.. Friday night I had to walk between two table (about 30 feet) with people sitting in all the chairs on both sides. I was able to walk between them without touching either side and I didn't even turn side ways.

These are much more important than the numbers on a scale!

Am I cute or what?

THE FOOD INDUSTRY WANTS YOU FAT!

THE FOOD INDUSTRY WANTS YOU FAT!

You know why.  It’s because the more you eat, the more they make.  It’s all about the money, honey!

We rarely ate out when I was a kid.  We ate at home every day.  Always.   The few times we ate at a fast food place (a burger joint back then), females got one burger; guys got 2.  The burger was about the same size as one in a kid’s meal.  It was meat (locally grown and butchered), lettuce, tomatoe and onion and maybe a slice of cheese.  The order of fries was about the same size as in a kid’s meal.

And it filled us up.  I think that was mainly because that is what we expected!

And now we see the results of bigger is better, dollar menus.  Eat more for less!  The end result is FATTER AMERICANS.  Even worse than that is the sad fact that are children are becoming fatter than ever.  Every year more and more teens are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.  That used to only happen in people over 40!

Processed food, too much food and little to no exercise just doesn’t equal healthy!  Are you willing to kill yourself with food?  Even more importantly are you willing for your children to lose years off their life to satisfy the food industry and our own gluttony?

Oh, I know!  They have trained us well.  We need that dollar burger!  We love those 2 tacos for a buck!  Who can resist those 3 pieces of chicken for $2.99?  And what about those ANY SIZE DRINK FOR A BUCK!

Decide to become the master of what goes in your mouth!  You can eat healthy.  You can eat an individual portion and be satisfied.  It’s up to you.  When you do, you will be the example your children need.

CHOOSE YOUR HARD!

CHOOSE YOUR HARD!

Losing weight is hard.  There I said it!  I know!  I know!  When people are losing weight, especially a lot of weight, some of them act like they never eat badly, they never do everything wrong, it’s just so easy peasy.  Sometimes they may even make you feel like they are judging you because you have not been “perfect”.

Well, I’ll tell you, that is a big FAT lie!  Sure some days do not take effort.  Sometimes you don’t even think about food or eating.  But other days, well, it is all you think about.   If losing weight were so easy peasy, wouldn’t we have all accomplished our goals the first time we tried?  Or the 10th time?  Or the 100th time?  Don’t embrace those that would thwart your efforts.  If you eat something you shouldn’t or eat too much, just remember, it isn’t a failure unless you stay where you are.  Get back up and keep moving forward!

Here are the things that you need to do if you want to lose weight and some of these make losing weight much easier.

1.      Eat whole foods.  Cook at home.  When you eat out, you don’t know what they add to your food that pumps up the calories.

2.      If you tend to overeat, then portion your food out.  When it is gone, it is gone.

3.      Stay away from processed food.  Start looking at labels.  First of all, the best food are the ones with one ingredient, like vegetables, fruits, etc.  When you look at a label, what are the first three ingredients?  If you don’t know what any of those are, pass it by.

4.      Drink water.  Your body is 60% water.  If you get to the point of feeling thirsty, you are already de-hydrated.  Water helps with digestion; helps your bowels to move, helps your skin look better and feel better.  You cannot live without water.  It’s the best thing you can drink.

5.      Find activities that do not include food.  You can go to the movies and not buy anything to eat.  Theaters have convinced us that movies just aren’t the same without food.  Lol  Try it!  Instead of celebrating an occasion by going out to eat, go bowling, or miniature golfing.  Leave the food for your mealtime.

6.      Have healthy snacks already made up and available for those times you want to gnaw your hand off!  J  We’ve all been there!

7.      Start moving!  You don’t have to run a marathon or walk a 5K.  Just start moving.  Whatever movement you choose or for how long, it will help your body.   Start with 5 minutes a day.  Increase 5 minutes a day every week.  In 6 weeks you will be exercising 30 minutes a day.  And here’s a little secret:  When you start moving (or exercising) your brain releases endorphins which make you feel good.  You start to enjoy moving and want to do it more.  Oh, and here is another idea:  When you go shopping, don’t spend your time looking for a parking space right by the door.  Park at that back.  Every little bit helps.

8.      No matter what struggles you have with your weight loss program, use this as your mantra:  I WILL NEVER GIVE UP!

9.       I know I can do this!  You can do it too!  I want to stop feeling like that hamster on the wheel of dieting.  I want off!  I want to be healthy and live healthy.  I’m determined to make this my last weight loss journey.  If I falter, I will get back up.  I refuse to listen to anyone who tries to put me down or keep me from reaching my goals.

I know what my goal is and I am focused.

Watch out baby, I’m in this to the end!

WHAT A DIFFERENCE 18 MONTHS MAKES!!!!

SEPT 2012 MAY 2014

When I look at my before picture, it makes me so sad.  I remember this girl.  She was unhappy in most every area of her life.  When I look at the picture of me on the right (taken 5-23-14) I can hardly believe it!  I see myself and think, "You are just too darn cute!"  I'm getting healthier, moving easier, I can dance for hours when a year ago I couldn't dance for 5 minutes.

If you want to lose weight, get healthy and change from the outside in, you need to make the decision to give Skinny Fiber a chance.

You are worth it!  I'm living proof!

COMING SOON TO YOUTUBE!

COMING SOON TO YOUTUBE!

I have decided to join the world of YouTube.  My first video will be released by the end of the week.  Then I am putting together a series of exercise videos just for YouTube.

Yeah, I know.  You are thinking….”What is a fat girl doing putting out exercise videos?  Who will star in it?”

Well, Baby, who do you think will star in it?  The fat girl named Caryn will!   Hahaha  I may still be fat on the outside but on the inside I’ve always been petite just trying to get out of this prison of fat!

My goal is 12 videos that are 2 ½ to 3 minutes long.  I’m going to do this!  Am I scared?  Yep!   Do I fear failure?  Of course! Do I sometimes think I might be rejected?  Ummm, I do.  But this is what I know!

I have a team mates who have graciously offered to help me when needed.  My daughter has offered to help me out. My friend Patty said she would help.   I have been working on content and how they should be.  I’m excited about it!  I’m working to have some of them launched by mid June.

Now the one I plan to release within a week is a song I wrote for my friend, Jackie.  It’s a silly little song but I think it is catchy. It was my kids that suggested I make a video and upload it to YouTube.  It will be something to honor Jackie for infinity cause you know that once it is on YouTube it lives forever.

So stay tuned!  This girl is on fire and heading to a YouTube near you!  J

OVERCOMING BINGING!

OVERCOMING BINGING!!!

I spent the weekend pondering this overeating incident on Friday.  I know I am the one who has to figure it out and then work out the solution.  I hope ya'll don't mind but I'm going to write my thoughts about this problem of mine.   Maybe it will help someone else.  I don't know.

I just know I will never be free of my weight problems until I figure this weight problem out.  I want to be healthy, mind and body.  What good does it do me to lose the weight and still have to battle these binges of overeating when my emotional state collapses?

52 years is long enough to carry this burden.  I want to be free of it for good.  I'm not sure what path or paths I will have to take to reach my final destination but I'm determined to get there.

I'm looking forward to all of you being with me to push me, encourage me, tell me the truth when I need it, and cheer me on when I make progress.

I'll tell you.  I'm scared.  I just feel like it is uncharted territory for me and I'm just scared.  I know I am going to have to make changes that probably I would rather not make.  But I'm determined.  This time, this time I'm going to put this to rest.

OVEREATING

OVEREATING

This is the kind of post I normally only post in my weight loss support group.  However, I think I’m suppose to post it on my Facebook page first.

Many of us have destructive patterns when things happen in our lives.  Some of us overeat; some of us stop eating, some of us throw up, some of us cut ourselves, some of us run up credit cards, some of us have random sex.  And on and on.  None are better or worse than the other.  Some of us have more than one destructive behavior.  Most of the time we don’t know what initiated the self abuse.  Sometimes we don’t realize we are even doing it until we are deep in the midst of it.

I do this to myself.  I overeat.  Now, as I rule I eat healthy and in moderation.  But there are times when I find myself going to the store to buy that comfort food that my mind and body are urging me to eat.  Not a taste.  Not a bite.  But gorge myself.

Today was one of those days.  I ate 6 mini ice creams.  SIX!  I had eaten them before I even realized I had.  I wasn’t hungry and now I’m miserable.  I was lying here in bed thinking about this.  Why do I do this?  Why do I sabotage myself?  Why do I stuff myself?  Why do I forget about all my success in just a minute?

I know I have to find these answers to really succeed on this last weight loss journey.  I started going back through today.  Yesterday.  The day before.  I’ve been battling this urge to gorge all week.   What was the driving force behind this?  Sometimes I feel like I am trying to fill a deep hole that resides in the depths of my soul.

I finally figured it out.  Once I did, I remembered the last time this happened.  I thought back to what was going on then.  It was the same kind of thing.  So what was it?  Both times it was when I was feeling used and taken advantage of.  When that happens, my confidence takes a big hit.  My self-esteem sinks to the ground.  I don’t understand why when others treat me badly I take it upon myself to treat myself just as badly.

I wish I had the answers.  I know I have to find them and start the healing process so that next time, and there will be a next time, I can identify it before it happens.  And if not before it happens, maybe after I just eat 3 mini ice creams.

If you wish to share your struggles and triumphs, I would appreciate that.  I do plan to post this in my closed weight loss group for those who would like a safe place to share their struggles.

I hope if you are facing something like I am that at least now you know you aren’t alone.
