TRANSFORMATION

Imagine the most beautiful butterfly you have ever seen.  Think about where that butterfly started and what it went through to emerge as a free soaring beautiful butterfly!

It was a caterpillar (ok, I know that's not the proper name but stay with me here).   She ended up in a small dark cocoon.    As time passed that butterfly must have thought, "I was an ugly worm and now I've been hidden away in this tomb!  What a life!"

It made her so mad that she decided she could and would escape this prison!   No matter how bad her life as a worm was, it was better than this!

She started to move.  Slowly at first and then more vigorously.   She wasn't quite sure what she was moving but it didn't feel like she was making a bit of progress.   Minute by minute.  Hour by hour.   She struggled to free herself.   It seemed like forever.  She would get tired.   She thought about quitting.  Many times she asked herself, “Is it worth it?”

And then...all of a sudden, she saw light break through!   Just that little bit of movement encouraged her and spurred her on to keep reaching and working towards her goal.    She knew she could break free of this prison!

She noticed that the harder she worked at getting to her goal, the stronger she became.  Soon her tiny world was filling up with light!   And then it happened!

She was free!  She emerged!  Once she had felt like a slug on the ground.  But now!  Now she was beautiful!   Her body was drenched in spectacular colors!  And she had wings!  WINGS!   She started to flap her wings and began to soar!

She was free to be who she was meant to be!   Not a slug.  Not a worm.  Not a caterpillar.  Not a prisoner.   She was a butterfly!  Beautiful and free!

As she flew she realized that it was her determination, her will power, and her dedication that had brought her goal about.  She never lost sight of her goal,  We are no different than this butterfly.

Which do you choose?  To be a slug, a prisoner or a butterfly?

The choice is yours!

HOW MUCH HAVE YOU SAVED?

Anyone still doing the 52 week Savings challenge or as we like to call it, The Christmas Savings Club? It's not too late to start saving. You can start at the beginning and still have money by the end of the year.

I have gotten so many of my employees on it! I'm so proud of them all!

Trent has his 7 year old on his own little savings program along with his parents.

Richard asked me the other day to explain it to him because his wife just didn't see how they could do it. He said, "we need to do this."

Javier is 25, married and has 3 kiddoes. Yesterday he came in and said, "How much are we supposed to have saved by now?" We checked the chart and I think it was $551 or so. "Know how much I have saved?" "How much?" $2700!!!!!!! I want to be his kid for Christmas this year!!!

WHOA!!!!! Go Javier!

So here is my question to you to encourage you to start saving: If you or your spouse, partner, significant other, etc. were to be unable to work for a month or more, how long would you be able to continue to pay your bills?

Most people in our country are a month away from being homeless. If you don't have family and friends to buffer you and help you if that happened, you better start making you an emergency fund. If you need help, ask me or send me a message.

So let's get to saving!

MY MOTHER'S HUSBAND

MY MOTHER'S HUSBAND

I remember after my Daddy died and my mother started dating, we wanted her to go out with white collar men.  Doctors, Lawyers, Indian Chiefs, etc.   Only the best for our Mama.

And who did she bring home?   The bluest of the blue collar workers.   She brought home a plumber.  And married him.

Yeah, he stunk when he came home from work but he could fixed anything.

Yes, he wasn't rolling in money but the money he had he spent on her.

Sure, he didn't look like a movie star and now looks like Santa, but he only had a twinkle in his eyes for her.

A good man with a good heart.  All wrapped in blue.

She grew up with my daddy.  She grew old with Ed.

I think he might be the reason when men ask me what kind of man I'm looking for, I now say "a blue collar man who can fix anything around the house."

And if he has a million dollars?  That would just be icing on the cake.

OH, HAPPY DAY

One of my favorite gospel songs by Andre Crouch!   It makes me want to jump up, raise my arms and dance a little bit!   It just fills me with such joy!

Joy - that elusive feeling so many of us long for and search for.   Sometimes we stand waiting for it to cover us like sprinkles of rain from a downpour.

It's really much easier than that and you don't even have to wait for it.

Like happiness, joy is a choice.   You can choose every day, every moment to have joy.  Maybe you get joy from music.  TURN IT ON!  Maybe dancing makes you feel joyful!   Get up and move!   I dance around my office all the time.  Sometimes there isn't even any music on.

Spending time with my best friend, Marisela, and laughing always lifts my spirits and fills me with joy.   If we go several days without getting together, when we see each other we are like 4 year olds!   Jumping up and down, hugging each other and laughing like it’s been years!

You will notice that the more joy you have, the more joy thieves will start lurking around to steal it.   That is the time to allow and embrace more joy.  And remind yourself how much joy you will have when they leave.

There is that tiny seed of joy planted deep within your heart.   Feed it a little today.  Water it.   Love it.  Care for it.   Then watch it bloom and change your life!

INSIDE OUT AND OUTSIDE IN

INSIDE OUT AND OUTSIDE IN

Skinny Fiber.  Ya'll have seen the changes it has brought in my appearance over the past 1 ½ years.  No, I didn't drop 100 pounds in 30 days.  My weight loss has been slow and steady.  I've had my ups and downs.  I have hit plateaus and felt like I was marooned on a desert island.  BUT I have kept at it.  I keep taking my Skinny Fiber and when I stumble I get back up and start anew.

The changes in my appearance and health have been awesome and amazing.  But I have to tell you that the changes on the inside of me have been unbelievable.  The first time I met people from the Skinny Fiber family was August 2013.  I was a sad, unhappy, unmotivated person who had given up on many things in life.  I felt like a lump.  I looked like a lump.  And to be honest, I thought I deserved to be treated like a lump.

I am not that person today.  Anyone who met me or even knew me back then can tell you what a difference there is in me.  Not just my looks.  My outlook.  My attitude.  My thinking.  How I react to things.  How I look at things.  I have people tell me, "you have changed so much since I first met you.  You are not the same person."  And you know what?  They are right!

I'm not.  I have changed from the inside out and the outside in.  The person who was always on the inside looking out has busted the door down and is now living on the outside.

The best Valentine I got was from someone I went to school with from elementary school through high school.  For those who don’t know, that would be over 50 years ago I first met her!  J  She made a post to me saying that I looked beautiful and happy.  Her words blew my heart up!  I can truly say (and I do often) I am happy.  Happy, blessed and content.

And it all started that day back in July 2013 when I decided, "I'm going to try once more to lose weight."  Change.  Inside out and outside in.  That is what Skinny Fiber has done for me.

It can do it for you too.  Just decide to try one more time.  You deserve it.  Click here and come join me on this incredible journey!  www.caryncann.com

HAVE YOU GIVEN UP ON LOSING WEIGHT THIS YEAR?

HAVE YOU GIVEN UP ON LOSING WEIGHT THIS YEAR?

Since the New Year begun. are you trying to lose weight?  Start out with just one or two changes so you won't get frustrated and quit.

Here are two easy ones that everyone can do.

Drink at least 8 ounces of water a day.   This is in addition to any other liquid you have.  You will find that the more water you drink, the less you will want other liquids.  I know it's hard to believe but it is true!  Your body craves water, not just liquid.

Don't skip meals.  Especially breakfast!   You know why they call it breakfast?  Because you are breaking the fast you have been on for 10-12 hours.  Once you eat, you start your body up, like a car engine.  Until you eat, your battery is just sitting there.  You aren't even idling.  Your key hasn't been turned on.

It doesn't have to be an elaborate breakfast.  I start my day with a protein shake.  Protein powder, 1 tbsp of oatmeal, 1 tsp of peanut butter, 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk and a cup of ice.  I drink that on my way to work.  Almost all protein.  It keeps me full for 3-4 hours!  Make you some scrambled eggs.  Throw in some bacon!  Eat a bowl of oatmeal and fruit.  Whatever strikes your fancy that is healthy!

Start your day with a glass of water and then get your breakfast going.  Your body will thank you!  You will feel better, more alert and enerergized!  Try it for a week and see what happens!

If you need extra help in getting on track, try Skinny Fiber!  We have a 30 day money back guarantee!  What do you have to lose but weight?

CHOICES

CHOICES

Choices.  We all make them.  Everyday.  Many times a day.

The choices we make form the journey to our destiny and determine the path for our day.  I admit I let traffic get to me.  I cannot stand drivers who whiz in and out of traffic, drive 100 miles an hour and honk and blink their lights at people going 75, those who pass on the shoulder or get in the wrong lane because they believe their time is more valuable than that of the other drivers.

Mornings are especially stressful for me.  Especially when I have to cross 6-7 lanes of traffic.   It seems that if I put my blinker on one second before changing lanes, someone takes offense to it and speeds up to prevent me from moving over.  So here I am listening to Gospel music and yelling names at these people and thinking worse thoughts.  Singing about the wonders of God while yelling, “YOU IDIOT!”  Yes, I know it’s a contradiction!  This morning I reminded myself that I am making a choice to let all this upset me.  I can choose to just stay in a calm place and let them do their thing without it affecting me.

I have found this to be true in so many parts of my life.  I made a conscious decision a couple of months ago to stop letting things at home determine my mood.  (I admit sometimes I still fail at this!  Lol)  When a towel is left on the floor, or dishes in the sink, or the garbage isn’t taken out, I ask myself:  Will it take more time to make a fuss about it or just do it myself?”  It’s usually the latter.  I also ask myself, “If it starts an argument, will I even remember what it was about a year from now?  Or even a couple of weeks?”  The answer is always no.

Sometimes the way we approach things and the choice we make in handling a situation makes all the difference in the world in the outcome.  This morning a customer was parked in our drive in such a way I could hardly park my car.  What I wanted to do was pinch his little head off and yell at him.  I thought about it as I walked up the steps to the door.  When I got inside I said, “Could you do me a big favor?  When you park in the mornings, could you move back a little from where we park our cars to make it easier for us to get in?”  It’s only in the mornings I need this.”  Well, he was so apologetic.  Said of course he would.  My choice to be nice resulted in me getting the result I wanted without ruining either of our days.

We are always making choices that affect our lives.  I know most people tend to focus on the big choices of life.  I believe that it is the small, daily choices that truly determine how calm and peaceful our everyday lives are.    It’s a struggle for me.  I’m not there yet but I am working on it.  And what I find is that each time I make the right choice, in an instant, my day is always better.

Try it for yourself.  See what happens.  And feel free to share with me and my readers.  Make the choice to have a great day!

EXERCISE IS HARD!

EXERCISE IS HARD!

There I said it!  I know when I was over 300 pounds, I wasn’t impressed by people who exercised.  They were normal size or even small.  How difficult could it be?  They just get up and jog or run.  When they go workout at the gym it is a piece of cake.  I doubted they ever sweated or even got out of breath.

As I have travelled this road of my last weight loss journey, I have seen the light.  I have experienced the truth.  I’m going to share it with you.  Anyone who is exercising is working hard.  And I mean HARD!  The same commitment it takes for me to exercise is no more or less than the commitment it takes for a body builder or skinny person.     We all start at the beginning.

Just because someone is lean or their muscles are cut doesn’t mean they were born that way or were there when they started their exercise routine.  Chances are they were far from where they have ended up after months of exercise!  Nothing comes easy when we talk about changing our bodies.  It is work!

We all start where we are, wherever that is.   We start slow.  We set small goals and build on them like a foundation.   We set new goals and push ourselves.    We don’t exercise if we have time; we make time to exercise.  When someone tells me they don’t have time to exercise, I ask them how much time they spend watching television or posting on Facebook (or other social media) or playing games?  If it’s more than 30 minutes a day, you have time to exercise.  You just choose not to exercise.  It’s not a matter of time;  it is a matter of choice.

Now, I admit, I’m nowhere close to my goal weight or even my exercise goals.  I don’t focus on that.  I focus on what I am doing.   I set those small goals for myself.  I push myself hard even when it hurts.  I don’t listen to my body complain about exercising.  I listen to my mind telling me “YOU CAN DO THIS!  JUST KEEP MOVING!”

Every week I see improvements in my stamina, my endurance and my body.  I notice my calves beginning to look like runner’s calves.  I see how my knees are getting smaller and smaller.  Although my inner thighs still jiggle, my outer thighs and the backs are my thighs are becoming hard and lean.  Each time I notice improvement, it spurs me on to keep going.

When I started jogging the first week of June 2014, I was happy when I made it to ½ mile.  Now, 14 weeks later I have completed a 5K (no walking) and I’m training for a 10K within 6 weeks from now.  Yesterday I jogged/ran almost 4 miles in an hour.    When I started I was a slow jogger.  My pace has picked up and I now intersperse running with my jogging.  I started with 100 steps of running.  Now, I am running between 200 and 225 steps at a time.  By the 10K, my goal is to jog ½ and run ½.  I believe I will do it!

So why am I telling you that exercise is hard?  Because I believe in keeping it real and telling the truth.    I don’t jog every day.  There are days that I battle with my body and mind just to get out there.  Even then I get in 4-5 days a week.  Some days I only put in 2 miles.  But I still get out there and do it.  You can too.

When it comes to exercise you have to start where you are.  It’s not a competition with anyone but yourself.    You can start by walking 20 steps a day.  By the end of a month, I guarantee you can be walking at least ½ mile.  Maybe more.  Depends on your commitment and focus.

The best thing I have done this year was to start moving.  I chose jogging.  I do enjoy jogging but there are days that it is a battle.   Make a commitment to yourself to start moving.  Choose your own exercise.  Yours might be dance, or skating, or walking or Tae-Bo or Richard Simmons.  It doesn’t really matter.  What matters is that you have to move, you have to commit to it and you have to keep your focus.  That’s what matters.  And remember this:  your body will follow wherever your mind leads.  Always.

YES, I AM NOW A RUNNER!

YES, I AM NOW A RUNNER!

I'm back to my jogging schedule!  Last night it rained so I got up early and was out on my jog a little after 7.

I normally jog at about a level 3.  Level 3 is when your heart is pumping but you can still talk comfortably.  Today I decided to push harder.  Every block length or 2, I ran at a level 4 for 100 steps.  Level 4 is your heart really pumping and you can still talk but not comfortably.  I completed 8 or so of these Level 4 sections.

This is helping me increase my speed, work my heart harder and just uses more energy.  You know how I could tell I was moving faster?  My upper arms were flopping!  hahaha

So, I guess I can say I have moved up to actually RUNNING!  I don't know if I will run the 10K but I know I will run at least 1/2 of it!  And what an accomplishment for a 230+ pound, 61 year old woman who just started moving 3 months ago.  YES, IT HAS BEEN 3 MONTHS SINCE I STARTED JOGGING!  By Thanksgiving I will have 6 months under my belt!  WOO HOO!

YOU CAN’T SAVE PEOPLE; YOU CAN JUST LOVE THEM

YOU CAN’T SAVE PEOPLE; YOU CAN JUST LOVE THEM

This is a difficult thing to accept.  I am so excited that I found Skinny Fiber and the changes it has brought about in my life the past year.  I want to share it with everyone.  I want anyone who struggles with their weight to experience what I have experienced.  Weight loss.  Much better health.  The ability to not just walk but jog and for miles!  Watching my size goes from a 28 to a 16.  Being able to walk in and buy clothes without wondering "how big will I have to buy this time?"  I want everyone who struggles with their weight to see that I am changing my body but just as importantly, I'm changing myself!  From the inside out and the outside in.  I am becoming a better and newer version of me.

I am truly sad when people choose not to try or even give it a try.  I know the frustration of trying again.  What if it doesn't work.  Again.  But!  What if it does?  Whatever you feel, whatever you think, I've been there.  Wherever you are or wherever you have been, I've been there.

I know sometimes it just comes down to a person just isn't ready to change their life.  And that's not just about weight loss.  That's true about relationships, addictions, jobs, etc.   That's when you have to step back and just love them.  When they are ready, they will make the change.  Until then, you just have to love them.  I know.  I wasn't ready to lose weight for many years.

To all of my friends who struggle with weight issues, I'm here for you.  I know how tough it is.  I know the struggle of wanting to lose weight and get healthy but not wanting to change.  I know the heartache of looking in the mirror and just looking at your face and ignoring your body.  I know that lonely feeling of wondering, "where am I deep inside this fat?"  I know!  I've lived it for so long.

I want you to know I'm here.  I'll listen to you.  I'll cry with you.  I'll encourage you.  And I'll love you.  When you are ready to try just one more time to lose weight, contact me.  Skinny Fiber has worked wonders for me and thousands of others.  It can work for you too.

I COMPLETED MY FIRST 5K!

I COMPLETED MY FIRST 5K!

I did it!  I finished my first 5K jogging all the way in less than 45 minutes!  That's a 15 min mile....my goal!   It was a .75 mile walk each way, to and from the event and another 1.5 or so miles just walking everywhere.  The event lasted 5.5 hours and when we finished the event, WE LEFT!  It continued on with music for another hour!  My miles today were 7.7, the most ever!

So here's what I want to say to everyone.  Don't let anyone or anything keep you from setting goals and working to meet them.  Who would have ever believed that a 61 yr old woman who weighed 235 pounds and couldn’t walk a block a year ago and hadn’t run in 50 years could have started this course 6 weeks ago at zero and achieved completing a 5K, jogging all the way?

I have learned that 90% is mental and 10% is physical.  If you can achieve the mental, you can achieve the physical.  It's always the mental that keeps you from accomplishing your goals!

Next goal?  A 10K by the end of October.  Uh huh, these legs will look great for that cruise in November!  Now who is gonna join me in moving their body for the next 10 weeks?

BUT I WANT TO EAT OUT

BUT I WANT TO EAT OUT!

We all do.  However, it is very difficult to eat out all the time and lose weight.  There are several reasons why and I’m gonna tell you what they are!  I have friends tell me how they want to lose weight and then they eat out 4-6 times a week and usually at unhealthy restaurants.  I’m sorry to be the one to tell but you will not lose weight.

First, you don’t know what goes in the food you eat at fast food places or even restaurants!  And you certainly don’t know how many calories you are consuming!  I heard just this morning that one of the burgers at Red Robin has 3500 calories!  3500 CALORIES!!!!  That is 2 ½ days for me in one meal!  No thanks!  A 4 piece steak finger basket at DQ has 1600 calories!  Go ahead and eat it if you must!  But realize you shouldn’t put another thing (but water) in your mouth until the following day!  Oh, and these totals don’t include a sugary drink!  Besides all the calories you consume, you are not going to feel good.  Most restaurants don’t use fresh whole foods.  I know I know!  There are a few who do but trust me they still have dishes with umpteen calories and you know those ooey gooey selections are the ones we fat people want!

When you are trying to lose weight you should eat at home for the most part and cook your meals for breakfast and lunch to take with you.  When you cook, you know what ingredients you are using.  You don’t have to guess about any secret ingredients that will wreck whatever eating program you are on.  Also when you cook at home, you can use whole foods.  Real foods.  Foods that aren’t processed and full of chemicals.  Food that your body naturally knows how to break down and digest.

The last thing is portion control.  Most meals at restaurants are not portioned for one meal.  When I do eat out, the first thing I do when my meal arrives is ask for a to-go box.  Then I take half the food and put it in the carton to take home.  I only eat half of what I ordered for my meal.  I might not know exactly how many calories are in the meal or what “extras” were added, but I know I have cut the calories by half!  Sometimes I actually get 3 meals out of their one serving!

Now, I admit it is much easier for me to do this since I started taking Skinny Fiber over a year ago because it helps me feel full faster.  However, I portion my breakfast and lunch servings when I cook them at home.  I don’t want to guess.  I want to know that when I eat a bowl of homemade chili for lunch it is only 1 cup.  And trust me that takes some getting used to!  Find you a container and fill it with 8 ounces.  I’m betting it’s not what you are used to eating.  I know I was shocked!

Eating is not supposed to be a sport to stuff ourselves until we are so miserable we can hardly walk!  It is to nourish our bodies and give us energy.  Staying away from restaurants and fast food places helps.  So does buying whole foods and cooking at home.

If you are truly serious about losing weight, start out by only eating what you prepare at home.  You’ll save money and lose weight!
