INSIDE OUT AND OUTSIDE IN

INSIDE OUT AND OUTSIDE IN

Skinny Fiber.  Ya'll have seen the changes it has brought in my appearance over the past 1 ½ years.  No, I didn't drop 100 pounds in 30 days.  My weight loss has been slow and steady.  I've had my ups and downs.  I have hit plateaus and felt like I was marooned on a desert island.  BUT I have kept at it.  I keep taking my Skinny Fiber and when I stumble I get back up and start anew.

The changes in my appearance and health have been awesome and amazing.  But I have to tell you that the changes on the inside of me have been unbelievable.  The first time I met people from the Skinny Fiber family was August 2013.  I was a sad, unhappy, unmotivated person who had given up on many things in life.  I felt like a lump.  I looked like a lump.  And to be honest, I thought I deserved to be treated like a lump.

I am not that person today.  Anyone who met me or even knew me back then can tell you what a difference there is in me.  Not just my looks.  My outlook.  My attitude.  My thinking.  How I react to things.  How I look at things.  I have people tell me, "you have changed so much since I first met you.  You are not the same person."  And you know what?  They are right!

I'm not.  I have changed from the inside out and the outside in.  The person who was always on the inside looking out has busted the door down and is now living on the outside.

The best Valentine I got was from someone I went to school with from elementary school through high school.  For those who don’t know, that would be over 50 years ago I first met her!  J  She made a post to me saying that I looked beautiful and happy.  Her words blew my heart up!  I can truly say (and I do often) I am happy.  Happy, blessed and content.

And it all started that day back in July 2013 when I decided, "I'm going to try once more to lose weight."  Change.  Inside out and outside in.  That is what Skinny Fiber has done for me.

It can do it for you too.  Just decide to try one more time.  You deserve it.  Click here and come join me on this incredible journey!  www.caryncann.com

MY FIRST DESIGNER PURSE!

MY FIRST DESIGNER PURSE!

I'm almost 62 years old.  I've never been one to reward myself.  Before my kids arrived, I was the best aunt and sister around.  I was always looking for things that others might enjoy.    Once I had children, they came first!

I remember about 5 years ago, my friend, Marisela, said to me, "Girl, all you do is work and then go home.  Why work all the time if you never do anything you enjoy doing?"  She convinced me to just start getting out and eventually travelling.

Now I do 3 things for myself on a regular basis.  I get my nails and toes done and I get my hair done.

Two weeks ago I decided that at my age I deserved to have a designer purse.  I've never had one.  I've never cared much for purses.  In fact, the only purse I have ever loved is the TEXAN purse that Marisela got me for Christmas 2013.

I bought me an Anne Klein purse.  It’s a teal blue with a vibrant green lining!  It is beautiful but  took me over a week to start using it!  When I get new things I tend to "keep them".  Not sure what I'm keeping them for but I'm trying to break that habit!  lol

I love this Anne Klein purse.  When I carry it, I feel like a million bucks.  It just makes me feel better.  It doesn't make me better, but it's like a little secret I have with myself.  In my head I hear, "You are worth having a designer purse."  And I am.

And it's much more fulfilling than those 12 fudgcicles I used to eat to make myself feel better!  I plan to buy me a new designer purse at least once a year.   Of course, only on sale and with discounts!  ‘Cause that’s how we do it!   <3

I FEEL PRETTY!!!!

I FEEL PRETTY!!!!

WHY YOU SHOULD TAKE UPDATE PICTURES WHILE LOSING WEIGHT

When you take a new update picture it gives you tangible evidence that you are losing weight even if the scale is standing still.  Sometimes we get so caught up on the numbers that we forget our body does not always reflect the number on the scale when we are losing.  I can tell you that I didn’t lose a pound jogging miles every day.  However, I did build a lot of muscle in my thighs, calves and hips.   And that was reflected in those 3 areas becoming much smaller!

If you take an update picture and can see a difference when you put it side by side with your beginning picture, it can keep you motivated.  The past 6 months has been a trying time for me.  I felt like I was just a blob.    I didn’t feel as healthy (probably cause I wasn’t jogging).  I was tired all the time.  I wasn’t eating as well.  It all takes its toll.

I decided to pamper myself.  Got my nails and toes done.  Then I got a perm, cut and color.  Bought me some new earrings and a blouse or two.  My daughter took my picture and when I pizap’d it, I could really see the difference!  When I look at my new picture, all I can think is “I look darn cute for someone almost 62!

Don’t get frustrated with slow weight loss or even a plateau.  Just keep eating healthy.  Everyone wants to lose a lot of weight fast.  Trouble is, that weight tends to come back fast.  Doctors and nutritionists will tell you that slow weight loss is best and has a better chance of staying off.

If it takes me 2 or even 3 more years to get to my goal weight, I’m ok with that.  I’ll be the same age whether I lose weight, stay the same or gain weight.  I choose to keep losing.

Do yourself a favor.  Take update pictures every couple of months and pizap them so you can really see the difference in your body.  You will be amazed!

No matter what eating plan you are on, you should take pictures.  And if you need that extra help losing weight, join me and start using Skinny Fiber!  No stimulants; no caffeine.  All natural plant based supplement.  Skinny Fiber has helped me and thousands of others in getting healthy and losing weight.  It can help you too!  www.caryncann.com

THE QUEEN OF FARTS

THE QUEEN OF FARTS

When I moved to Houston in 1978, my first job was at a place called The Greensheet.  It was a free paper that was only ads.  The owner was a woman named Helen Gordon.  She built this paper from nothing.  When I left 5 years later, she had 7 different areas of Houston, at least one in Austin, a couple in Dallas and one in Chicago.  She is the person who gave me the opportunity to become a manager.  "You think you can do it, then let's see!"  With her it was sink or swim.  No training.  It was the best on the job training I could have ever gotten and I learned to be a great manager.

Helen was pretty severe looking.  No time for chit chat.  Actually, she was kind of scary looking she was so intense.  I worked for her for 5 years.  In those five years, I never saw her without a wig, always frosted but she changed the length and style with the seasons.  She had steel blue eyes but I don’t think I ever saw her smile.  She wore ultra-suede suits every day of the year, with a sheer blouse.  She always wore 3 inch black heels.  And she smoked Parliament cigarettes using a cigarette holder.  Back then we all thought she looked cool as she smoked.  I think she thought she looked regal.  When she came to my floor, employees scattered like mice.  I'm sure she was intimidating to even the most seasoned business man.

Shortly after I became a manager, she scheduled a meeting with me.  I wasn't afraid of her but she did intimidate me.  So about 5 minutes before the meeting I decided I better go to the bathroom since I didn't know how long this meeting might last.

I was sitting in my stall doing my business when I saw it.  Those 3 inch black heels.  I thought, she uses the bathroom just like me.  And then it happened.  She let loose with the biggest fart I had ever heard since my last family reunion.  You know the ones, where the men sit around and see who can fart and belch the loudest.  Well, she could have been one of my uncles or even my daddy!  She cut a big one.  I held in a giggle until she left the bathroom.

That incident changed my entire relationship with her.  Farts are the great equalizer!  From that day on, Helen was human to me.  Not bigger than life.  Not more important.  Not intimidating.  She was just like me.  She peed; she pooped and yes, she farted.  In fact, I would say Helen was the Queen of Farts.

A GOAL WITHOUT A PLAN IS JUST A WISH

A GOAL WITHOUT A PLAN IS JUST A WISH

Are you just wishing or do you really want to accomplish something?  If you have a goal, you have to have a plan on how to reach it.  Yes, you may stumble along the way, but then you just go back to the plan.

How many times do we all say things like, "I wish my house was paid off."  "I wish I weighed 100, 50, 25 pounds less."  "I wish I could go to college."  "I wish I had another job."  "I wish I could retire."  We all do it.  Wishing is like so many other things we do in our life.  It's a waste of our time.

Put that time to better use.  When you wish for something, decide if it is important enough to you to actually want to do it.  If it is, then set it as your goal.  Write it out!  And then set smaller goals to get you to that main goal.  It's difficult to set a goal that is in the future when you cannot see progress of smaller goals along the way.

Here is how I started saving over a decade ago.  I had no savings and had never saved a penny.  I wished I could save 10% of what I brought home.  One day I got a raise at work.  It was $6 a week.  My friend Debi said, "what are you gonna do with all that money?  But a dozen donuts?"  lol

What I decided to do was save it.  And so I did.  Each week I would put that $6 in savings.  It grew slowly but for the first time in my life, I had a savings account.  Then I paid a credit card off.  I was paying the minimum plus the interest each month.  That gave me about $16 more each week.  I added that to the $6 and now I was saving $22 a week.

I now save more than 10% of my income.  It is a great feeling to look in my savings account and see money.  When an emergency comes up I no longer have to decide, "do I fix my car or do I pay my electric bill?"

This process works for any goal.  I did the same procedure when I wanted to start tithing.  It worked when I started jogging.  All it takes is choosing a goal, writing it down with smaller goals, and then putting your plan in action.

Once you do that, your goal is no longer just a wish.  It's a plan that you can accomplish.

FAMILY TRADITIONS

FAMILY TRADITIONS

I give my parents a lot of credit for the traditions I was taught growing up.  Some of them have become part of the traditions my children and I have incorporated in our family.

My most favorite Christmas tradition is going out on Christmas Eve and looking at all the beautiful Christmas lights.  I have done this every year since I was 4 ½.  My mother was big and pregnant with my younger sister that year.  In fact, she arrived just 2 days after Christmas.  Mama was just miserable so my daddy piled us all in the car and we took off looking at the lights and decorations.  I was in awe!  There was one house that had every song and theme represented on their yard.  The house and lawn were covered in lights but the most lights were on the roof!  It just thrilled me to see all those lights on one house!

My children are in their 20’s and still look forward to going out on Christmas Eve and looking at the beautiful yards and houses all lit up for Santa’s arrival!  We have found our own house that just drips with all the stories of Christmas plus lights everywhere in the yard, on the house and on the roof.

That one tradition has carried over to other parts of Christmas.  Every year my kids get a new stocking.  And every year that stocking is filled with goodies and presents.  No looking in the stocking until all the presents are opened!  Every year we buy all new lights and ornaments.  Now, we do have our special ornaments that we have collected through the years, but each year, we use different colors.  Even for the outside!  And most every year my daughter convinces me to buy a real tree.

Along with that, we have certain things we cook and bake at Christmas.  We normally have lasagna or Ham for Christmas dinner.  I know lasagna sounds weird for Christmas but their dad was Sicilian.  What can I say?  We make strawberry candy out of jello mix.  We make cookies out of Ritz crackers and peanut butter.  We make a batch of Texas trash.  And usually we throw in a new recipe just for fun.  And of course, you have to have that Christmas music going everywhere.  I admit when they start playing it the day after Thanksgiving on the radio, I am pretty tired of it by Christmas but those first 3 weeks or so are just heaven!

Now, it’s only October so I haven’t started planning everything for Christmas yet.  But Thanksgiving?  Yep, I’ve already started collecting my food items in anticipation!

We have our family traditions for all the major holidays.  And don’t forget about Halloween!  We still decorate the house for the little ones.  Ok, it’s for us too!  Lol

I think family traditions are so important.  It’s the glue that holds the family together for those special times of the year.  You know you are part of a family when you have traditions that are special just to your members.  If you don’t have any family traditions, start one this Christmas.  Your kids will thank you for it.
