BREAKFAST! WHAT IS THAT ALL ABOUT?

BREAKFAST!  WHAT IS THAT ALL ABOUT?

Breakfast means to BREAK FAST.  You have not eaten in 10-12 hours.  Your metabolism is sluggish.  Your body is using very little energy.  You've probably been sleeping.

You need to break that fast to get your body moving and your metabolism lit!  You need food.  Yeah, I know, you want to lose weight!  That's great!  But you have to eat to lose weight!  Unlike most addictions, you cannot avoid your addiction.  You have to eat every day.

Eating breakfast starts your engine.  It gets your body warmed up.  You are letting your body know that rest time is over and it's time to start working again.

Be sure to include protein in your breakfast.  That is easy to do.  Eggs, protein powder, Greek yogurt.  Protein is so important, especially if you are trying to lose weight.   It helps you feel full and it will keep you from getting hungry much longer than carbs will.

We have all heard for years that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  It is.  Even when I had blown up to 317 pounds I retained the habit of eating breakfast.   Now, I probably wasn't eating healthy or filled with protein but the habit remained.  It has helped me during the last 18 months of weight loss.

Whether you are on a weight loss program or not, commit to eating breakfast for the next 30 days.   At the end of that time, let me know if you don't feel much better.   I bet you do!

BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN!

BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN!

Struggles, struggles, struggles.  We all have them.  And i don't just mean when we are trying to lose weight and get healthy.

Between January 1 and the middle of March my weight increased 15 pounds.  Not sure why.  Didn't seem to matter what I ate or didn't eat.  My dr wasn't very sympathetic or encouraging.  I thought I might bitch slap her at one point.  lolo

I did a 9 day food cleanse and dropped 9 pounds.  I did another two weeks of a modified cleanse.  Didn't drop a pound.  That is so depressing.  I know some of you can relate.

So what to do?  I threw the scale back in the closet.  Way in the back.

I decided to go back to what has worked for me.  Low carb; high protein.  And I'm going back to jogging.  I'm going to have to force myself to jog any day it is not raining since it seems to rain Thursday - Sunday here in Houston.

I want to lose at least 30 pounds by November.  I'd really like to lose 45 but I'm not sure that is reasonable.  I don't want to feel defeated before I even get started.  November is when Angie (my best friend’s daughter) is getting married.   I really want to be wearing a size 14 dress by then.  And by wear, I don’t mean looking like a stuffed sausage in it.  I mean wear a size 14 that is loose and flowing.

Thirty total pounds lost is 5 pounds a month or 1.25 pounds a week.   In calories that is 4375 calories less a week.  That's either eating fewer calories or using more calories.  I'll be doing both.

Based on my weight, height, gender and age, I burn 390 calories jogging 30 minutes.  If I jog 5 days a week, that burns 1950 calories in a week.  That leaves 2425 calories I need to eliminate during the week.

That breaks down to a decrease of 346 a day in my eating.  I don't really count calories since I low carb but I do tend to eat at least 1800 calories a day on average.  According to a calculator I used, to maintain my weight I need to eat 2300 calories a day.  To lose I need to stay under 1839 calories a day.  To see rapid weight loss, I should drop to 1380 calories a day.   And I should get rid of all sharp objects that might be used to hurt people when I'm hungry.  lol

To those of you who are on the weight loss campaign, what are you using?  Do you have a diet or food plan?  Low cal, low carb, whole foods, weight watchers, Skinny Fiber, etc.?   What about exercise?  How much are you doing?  Do you know how much you are burning each time you exercise?

I have calculators that show you how much you are burning when you exercise and how many calories you need to cut from your diet to lose.  If anyone is interested, comment and I will post them.

I’m re-focused and motivated.  I’m back in the saddle again!

I'm ready, are you?  Come join me!

BEAUTY ISN’T MEASURED IN POUNDS!

BEAUTY ISN’T MEASURED IN POUNDS!

Why do we believe this?  Because everywhere we look that is what we are told.

When we go to the dr, they weigh us and that is what they make their determination on.  They don't ask "have you lost weight?"  They just assume you are a big fat pig who never does anything but stuff your face.  “You need to lose weight.”   “I am.”  “You need to lose more.”   I bite my tongue and hold back stinging tears.  What I want to say is, “Bite me!”   But I don’t.  Because when you are fat, anyone and everyone has the ultimate weapon against you.  All they have to say is “YEAH, BUT YOU ARE FAT!”  End of discussion; end of argument.  You go home and lick your wounds.  And sometimes the spoon after you eat that pint of ice cream.

They never ask if you are doing any exercise.  They ASSUME that if you are fat, you are lazy and certainly could not be walking, or jogging or working out.   You should see the faces of people (and drs) when I tell them I jog and that I have completed a 5K.  They give me that poor pitiful look like “sure you have”.   Sometimes knowing the truth is all you have.  Hang on to it.

And I've never had one dr in 62 years ever comment about my beauty.  Not my nails, not my hair, not my make-up, not my clothes, not my smile, not NOTHING!

Then look at tv, magazines, award shows. newspapers, etc.  Models and celebrities are photo shopped and air brushed to make them look thinner, prettier, younger, etc.   And then we, the everyday woman, thinks that is what we should look like.   And if we had a nutritionist, chef, hair stylist, make-up artist, trainer, someone picking out our clothes for us, an air brush artist, a photo shop expert, etc., we would be looking darn good too!

Our beauty is not limited to the house we live in.  Just like the home we live in, the house our inner self abides in does not tell the entire story.  Haven't you seen a beautiful home before and you knew the family inside didn't not reflect the outside appearance?  Same goes for us and our bodies.

Instead of always looking at your body and defining and judging yourself based on the pounds on the scale, why not try looking at the REAL you who resides inside your body.  Being fat does not mean you are automatically a good person.   However, I know many many overweight people who are the salt of the earth, nicest, most giving people around.  They will give you whatever they have and go without.  Many times they do it without a thank you and sadly, many of us do not even expect a thank you.

The next time you step on that scale and you start to judge yourself for the numbers going up or staying the same, just take one minute to stand in front of the mirror and say out loud:

I AM NOT JUST A PERSON WHOSE BODY IS FAT.  I'M A GOOD, LOVING, LOYAL AND GIVING PERSON.  Embrace that part of YOU.  Your spirit.  Your being.

Remind yourself of that daily.   Let that sparkle from knowing this dance in your eyes!  Others will see it even if they don't acknowledge it.  The most important thing is that YOU know it, see it and acknowledge it.

Your beauty is not measured by the numbers on a scale.  Only numbers are.

REMODELING TIP OF THE DAY!

REMODELING TIP OF THE DAY!

I love my home.  But every time I walk around I find things the contractors didn't do, or didn't complete.  I was an equal opportunity employer.  I had one white, one black and one latino.  None of them completed the job or completed them properly.  I wonder if I had done work for them the way they did for me, if they would have been satisfied and paid me all the money I paid them.  Sometimes I think, "was it because I was a woman?"  I don't think so.  I just think they take short cuts, do shoddy work and don't complete work.  What we called people like this back in the day was unethical.  Of course, political correctness doesn't allow the truth any more.

So, if you are ever in the position to remodel, here are my tips.

1.  Rethink doing it.   Maybe you should just sell your home and build a new home.

2.  Get references that are not friends of the contractor.

3.  THEY ARE NOT YOUR FRIEND!   No matter what they say!  They work for you.  Treat them like an employee!

4.  If they want money up front, RUN!  They don't have the working capital to do your job.  That’s like a car dealer asking for money up front to pay for the car for you to buy from them.

5.  Don't let them use your credit card for any materials.  Period.  If you do, don’t be surprised if you find that they bought things for other people while putting used crap in your home.

6.  Everything must be in writing.  Any changes require an addendum.

7.  If they don't carry liability insurance, DON'T TALK TO THEM.  One contractor flooded my house twice.   A plumber caused two floods in the house.  Neither had insurance.  My insurance had to pay and it put my insurance in jeopardy.

8.  Never, ever pay everything due until every last thing is done.  Once they get your money, trust me, THEY ARE DONE AND GONE!

After spending $80,000 remodeling, I will have to spend at least $20,000 more to redo my wood floors (flooded 4 times during remodel), redo both bathrooms (the master bath has been remodeled twice already and still a mess), correcting all the electrical problems, and then things like replacing the crappy kitchen cabinets (second set) and all the crown molding (don't ask).

Like I said, I love my home.  It's old (60 years old) and durable.  It has character and it’s mine.  I don't think they build homes like they did back then.  And I can live it in now while I save the money to fix the stuff that wasn't done or wasn't done properly.  But next time will be different.  I am a more educated consumer on this subject.

I won't be as nice or as accepting.  It will be my way or no money.  They will know and understand that they work for me not the other way around.  Any demands will be made from me; not them.  I know there are honest, ethical contractors out there.  Next time I'll hold out for that or I'll just continue to live in the house as is.

PUT THE SCALE AWAY!

PUT THE SCALE AWAY!

How many times have you heard:  Put the scale away?  There is a reason for it!

Let's take me for instance.  I completed my 9 day Food Cleanse.  I lost 8 pounds.  That’s 28,000 calories reduced in a week or 3111 calories a day.  Not possible.  Really.  I would have to have weighed over 400 pounds when I started and then eaten what was on the cleanse.   The first week is some fat, water and shock.  Yes, shock to my body!

I stated my 21 day Food plan on April 1st.  Yesterday I completed the first week.  This morning I thought, ok, let's see how I did.  I was down .2 of a pound.  I've had bowel movements that weighed more!  I've peed that much water during the night!  So WHAT IS THE PROBLEM, HOUSTON?

You know what the problem is?

NOTHING!

That's right!  There isn't a problem.  The scale reflects numbers.  That's it.  Just numbers.

I know I am losing because my clothes are getting looser.  I know I am eating healthy and have cut out excess calories to lose weight.  The only thing I haven't added back in is walking 3-4 times a week.   Just a side note:  I've never lost a pound exercising but I have toned up my muscles!   The weight I didn’t lose this week, is actually the water weight lost that is now fat loss.

So what's a girl to do?  Should I give up because I didn't even lose a pound this past week?  Should I go grab a box (or two) of 12 ice creams and gobble them down to show my body who is in charge?  Should I go out and eat at a Mexican restaurant and pack in 3500 calories or more?  Oh, I’ve tried both of those solutions.

As my therapist used to tell me when I would come up with outrageous ideas, "That's always an option."

What I decided to do instead is put that darn scale away.   Again.  In the closet in the kitchen.  On a shelf.  In the very back.   A place I won't see it unless I am looking for it.

Am I disappointed that the scale did not reflect a greater loss?  Your darn tootin' I am!  Am I going to quit!  NEVER!

I'm going to keep eating just the way I have been for the past 16 days.  Eventually, the numbers will fall.   If I do my part, keep on my food plan and stay focused, then everything will come out in the wash, as we used to say in the country!

The scale only matters if you are in this for the short haul.  I'm not.  I'm in it until the end.

This truly is my LAST weight loss journey.  If it takes another year or two or three, I'll eventually reach the finish line!  Nothing, and especially not the scale, is going to deter me!

JUST FOR TODAY

JUST FOR TODAY

Have you ever had a goal that was going to take months and months to accomplish?  That is how it is for me losing weight.  My goal from the beginning was at least 100 pounds.  I knew from the start that this was not going to happen in a few weeks or months.  Oh, sure, that’s how I have approached it in the past.   And that’s one of the reasons I always failed.

This time has been different.  It has been 20 months and I’m still on my weight loss journey.  I have never stayed on a weight loss journey 20 months.  Not even when I had my stomach stapled.  I would get tired, lazy, unmotivated, deprived, etc.  I think this is the first time that my mind has been in the right place to actually see weight loss as a very long term goal.  This time I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Oh, it is only a faint flicker in the distance but I see it!  And I know as the weeks go by that light will shine brighter encouraging me to keep going!

Do I have my struggles?  YES!  Do I sometimes want to quit?  YES!  Do I sometimes blow caution to the wind and just stuff my face?  YES!  But for only a day or two only.  Do I sometimes gain some weight?  YES!  Do I get frustrated?  YES! BUT!  I have not given up!  Not once!  I haven’t even considered it.  And that is a big difference this time for me.

What is different this time?  First, I have changed my mindset.  I was and am ready to lose this weight and get healthy.  That is more important to me than stuffing my face day after day.   I have been able to track my progress over the months.  Being able to actually see my progress through pictures has helped me so much.  We don’t always notice the difference when we look in the mirror.  If you can compare two pictures, you will see the difference.   And most importantly, I have not given up!

I think something that helps so much is to approach losing weight as a lot of short term goals.  When you first start on a weight loss journey, it is so difficult.  That 25, 50, 100 pounds looks like a huge mountain you have to climb.  And the truth is, you usually don’t see a huge difference for about 3 months.  It can be overwhelming and depressing.

My goals for eating are short these days.  My attitude when I get up now is “Just for today.”   Just for today I will take my Skinny Fiber.  Just for today I will drink my water.  Just for today I will stick to my food plan.  Just for today I will move.  Just for today I will get 8 hours of sleep.

Just for today.  It’s a much easier goal to embrace and achieve than one 6 months, a year, two years down the road.  It’s doable.

So just for today I am doing what I need to do to accomplish my weight loss goal today.  And this day will turn into a week, a month, a year, and beyond.  I’m doing it.  You can too!  And in the near future, we will get to our destination.

CONFESSIONS OF A STRUGGLING FATTY

CONFESSIONS OF A STRUGGLING FATTY

I’m struggling on my last weight loss journey.  Yes, I’ve been stuck on a plateau for the last 6 months.  I still haven’t gotten back to jogging regularly since my car accident.  But those aren't really the problem.  Those are just temporary setbacks.

The loss of weight has not and still is not apparent in all of my body.  Because of the over 50 years of gaining and losing over and over my skin has no elasticity.  My lower abdomen is just a huge flap of mainly skin.  The last time I weighed it, it was 25 pounds.  If I lived on 1000 calories a day the rest of my life, it would still be there.   It feels like a parasite feeding off of my body.   Underneath this appendage, my stomach is flat.  I have looked in the mirror so many times in the past few months with my stomach lifted so I don’t see it.    I look small and normal.

The other part of my body that is so out of proportion is my upper arms.  They are just humongous and have decreased very little with all the weight I have lost.  When I look at my arms, I see my normal size fore arm attached to an upper arm that is the size of a thigh.  It’s bizarre looking to say the least.  And it’s frustrating.

It’s very difficult to buy clothes to fit me.  My pants have to fit over this huge stomach.  That means they will be baggy in the legs and waist.   Last week for the first time, I actually noticed that the seams on the sides of my pants end up being about 3 inches on the front on both sides of my hips.     My waist is about the size of a 14.  But my stomach requires an 18 most of the time.  The same with tops.  My torso is a large or x-large.  My upper arms are a 3x.   I had someone tell me not too long ago (in a very loving way), “Girl you need to get a shirt that fits you!  That one is about to fall off!”  It was.  Off my body.  It fit my upper arms.

The only way I see to have a body that is really my body is to have cosmetic surgery.  It’s expensive.  Very expensive.  Especially since I only want to have it done in a hospital and not a surgical center. Every day since January 1st, I have put it out there to the universe, “I am going to have my surgery by January 2016.”   I tell you.  I have no idea how that will happen.  I just know in my heart it will.

Until then, I am going to keep working my program and get back to my jogging.  I want to lose 60 more pounds by the end of the year.   I know that after my surgery I am going to feel like a prisoner who has been released from their prison.   My body will at last be the body it should have always been.   And that person who has been kept hidden inside for over 50 years will be freed!

Yep, I’m struggling but not giving in or giving up.   I’m back on track and I see the finish line.  I’m the only one who can get me there.  And I’m going to make it if I have to crawl across that line with bloody knees that no longer have any cushion in them!  I have come too far to ever give up!
My plea to you is this.   If you are overweight please don’t wait until you are 60 to decide you deserve to lose weight and get healthy!  Don’t use your weight as an excuse to put off living.  I’m telling you the years go by faster and faster.

Tell yourself daily:  I am worthy!  I deserve to be healthy and lose weight.   Decide that you are going to make those changes to complete your last weight loss journey.   Find a meal plan that you can live with, find an exercise you enjoy, and try Skinny Fiber.   It isn’t a magic pill but it will help make your journey much easier.

LET THE KID IN YOU COME OUT!

LET THE KID IN YOU COME OUT!

When my kids were little I admit I allowed them to be creative.  Some would say to the extreme.   Even before my kids were born, I cherished the creativity of children.  In our first townhouse we left a wall blank in the dining room.  This wall was where my nieces and nephews could draw pictures and leave messages.  It was so cool.

When we moved into our first house it was really nice.  We loved it.  When Ashlie was 18 months old she began to draw.  She chose the walls in the foyer as her canvas.  At first I was just livid!  My first home!  Why did she have to do this?  One day my brother said, “Let her draw on them!  It’s just paint!”  And she did.  By two she was watching Pappy on Public TV and becoming a great little artist.  She still is to this day.

Cody’s creativity came out in writing.  He had severe problems reading until I bought him his first Harry Potter book.  The more he read, the better his writing became.  Couple that with his very imaginative and creative stories he loved to tell and you have a budding author on your hands.  I fully expect him to become a published author someday.

I tell you this to give you a little background.  Before Ashlie and Cody started to kindergarten, my nephew Franklin stayed with me during the day.  One day I told the kids we were going out shopping and to get ready.  When I called them to the door, I wish you could have seen them.  Franklin was in a Batman costume.  Cody was in a Spiderman costume.  Ashlie was wearing a red one piece swimsuit.  They were all wearing cowboy boots.  Ashlie had tied a towel around each of their necks.  And, of course, they were all wearing black sunglasses.  They were HEROES.

What was a mom to do?  I stifled a giggle and said, “c’mon and get in the car!  Ya’ll have crime to fight!”

It’s ok to be creative.  It’s ok if you are different.  It’s ok if you stand out in a crowd.  Embrace your uniqueness.  Let the artist in you come out.   Do something that makes you feel like a kid but might make others stare at you.  So what?  Feel that freedom again.  It will make you feel alive!  Trust me!

ARE YOU TIRED OF BEING OVERWEIGHT?

ARE YOU TIRED OF BEING OVERWEIGHT?

Are you tired of being overweight?  Whether it is 10 pounds or 100 pounds, most of us want to take off the extra weight and get healthier.

And if you are like me, you know what to do.  I probably know as much about food as a nutritionist.  After 50+ years of dieting, I know the caloric content of most any food I eat.  I know how to exercise.  I know the basics.

So what is the problem?  Sometimes we just need that extra little help that motivates us to get started and keep going.  That's what I needed 18 months ago.  And that's what I still need!

You are no different than me or anyone else.  We have all the knowledge.  I have probably been a patient of 30 weight loss drs.  They have all the answers.  And every one of them was FAT.    We are no different than all those drs.  Knowledge will not make you lose weight.  Action will.

This is one of the reasons I love Skinny Fiber.  No, it is not a magic pill.  No, it won’t make you lose 30 pounds in 30 days.  No, you can’t eat like a little pig and expect to lose weight when you take it.

BUT!  It will help suppress your appetite.  It will help with your metabolism.  It will help with your digestion.  And it will help prepare your body to lose weight.  Will it make losing weight a breeze and something you can do without thinking about?  Not completely but it will help.  Will you lose inches even when the scales scream at you, YOU ARE STILL FAT!  LOOK AT THE NUMBERS ON THE SCALE!  Yes, you will lose inches even when the numbers don’t move as quickly as you would like.

I’ve been on the diet train for more years than I’ve been off of it.  There are days that I do great and eating healthy isn’t a struggle.  But let’s be honest here.  Losing weight has its days of struggles.  If it didn’t, well, you know.  None of us would be fat.  That’s the truth.

Skinny Fiber is a supplement that will help you lose weight.  It will help you with your appetite.  It will assist you with your metabolism.  It will improve your digestive system.  It will help you stay focused.  It can improve your sleep.  As you lose weight you will have more energy.  More energy means movement is easier.  More movement means more calories burned.

It’s one big process.  None of it is a stand alone deal.  In 1979 I had my stomach stapled.  I lost about the same amount of weight I have lost with Skinny Fiber.   After a year, the weight started coming back.  It wasn’t long before I had gained it all back and more.

Skinny Fiber is a tool.   It can help you.  But it will not do all the work for you.  There is nothing, and I mean nothing, that is going to magically transform you from an overweight person to a healthy weight person.  You have to have skin in the game.  It has to be important enough to you that you choose to commit to it.  You have to want it enough that you are willing to take that journey no matter how long it takes.  If it takes two years, so what?  In two years you will be 2 years older.  You can be two years older and be the same size you are now (or larger) or you can be two years older and be a lot slimmer.  The choice is years.  But either way, you will be two years older.

I have struggles even after 18 months of using Skinny Fiber and losing weight.  There are times that I just want to eat 2 servings of something or even 3.  Sometimes I do.  Then I feel terrible.  I feel like I’m a failure.  It’s just something that many of us have to face on a regular basis.   Sometimes we just have to face the facts.  We are never going to be able to eat anything and everything we want or as much as we want and have a healthy weight.

So what should we do?  Give yourself a chance.  Try Skinny Fiber.  What if it works for you?  Decide to dedicate 3 months to losing weight and getting healthy.  That’s what I did and for the first time ever in my life, I have consistently lost weight.  Is everyday a success?  No, but more days than not are.

Come join me on my last weight loss journey to health and fitness.  Once you are on the path you will find out what I have.  The only magic to losing weight is YOU.  You are all the magic you need.

Step out in faith and give yourself another chance.  It worked for me.  It’s worked for thousands of others.  It can work for you too!  Let’s do this together!  Order your Skinny Fiber here:  www.caryncann.com

START A 12 WEEK WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE WITH ME!

START A 12 WEEK WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE WITH ME!

I'm starting a new 12 week challenge tomorrow.  This is to get back to the basics of my low carb eating and renew my focus.  I'm believing this will help break my plateau and get me back to losing.

Anyone up for joining me?  Got a wedding coming up?  A quinceanera?    A reunion?  A big party or celebration?  Wearing a swimsuit this summer?

Let's do it together and make it happen.  Take a before picture and your measurements.    Even though you might not see it, pictures and measurements don’t lie.  Weigh and then put that scale away until the 12 weeks is over.   Trust your clothes and measurements to tell you the truth.

I'll be using Skinny Fiber and low carb.  You can use any meal plan you like.  If you would like to add Skinny Fiber, click here to order:  caryncann2.com.   It will help you.  I has me and thousands of others.

It's always easier to do it with others than all by yourself.  My goal is 20 pounds in 90 days.  That's a little more than 1.5 pounds a week.    Between reducing calories and moving, I think that is a reasonable goal for me.    Make a realistic goal for yourself.  Just remember:  to lose one pound a week you either have to eliminate 500 calories a day from your eating, increase your activity to burn 500 calories extra a day or a combination of the two.

I'm doing it!  Alone or with others.  I'm doing it!  It will break my plateau and put me back losing and on to my next goal.

We all get frustrated.  We all want to eat junk.  It just doesn't seem fair.  Hey!  I have finally gotten it.  Life is not fair.  I don't think it's fair that people that weigh twice as much as I do don't have diabetes.   I'm sure thin people don't think it's fair that they have high blood pressure when a big girl like me has blood pressure of 110/70.   We all have a disadvantage of some sort.

You play with the hand you are dealt or you roll over and give up.  WE DON'T GIVE UP!  WE RISE LIKE THE PHOENIX OUT OF THE ASHES OF WHATEVER IT IS THAT HAS SOUGHT TO DESTROY US!

And then we just don't survive.  WE THRIVE!

Let’s do this!

WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST FEAR?

WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST FEAR?

I saw this today and I can't get it out of my head.  I have lived my entire life in fear.  It has kept me from truly living.  Not for a little while; for all the while.

Many fears I have conquered.  The one fear that follows me, haunts me, taunts me and more is fear of failing to lose weight and keeping it off.  At times I feel like a hypocrite posting about weight loss, my own included, tips, suggestions, etc.  because I doubt myself so much in this area.

Over 50 years of dieting and failing over and over, has caused me to doubt I can really do it.  I have not weighed under 200 pounds since I was 19 years old.  The closer I get to that number (which I have more than a few times), the more fear I feel.  I become overwhelmed.  I get anxious.  I tell myself what is the point?  And then I finally just give up.  Stuck like chuck and going back up!

The tapes that play in my head are like this:  You're fat; you've always been fat.  You will always be fat.  You have such a pretty face but.....  Why do you eat when you aren't hungry?  Hurry and eat, everyone before she gets to the table!  What are you trying to do – weigh over 200 pounds?  Where are you going to find clothes to fit you?  What man will ever want you?  Men leave women who get fat.  On and on and on.  All words that have been spoken to me during my life to the point they have become my own words.  And now they continue to try to hold me back from my dream, my goal to just reach my weight loss goals and maintain them.

I am almost 62 years old.  I'm tired.  I don't want to die a young death.  My children are in their early 20's.  I want to live to see them married with children.  I don't want to be sick.  I don't want live in fear.  I want to overcome this fear and conquer it.

I want to live.  Without the bulk that I have hidden in for 58 years.  I know the me that has lived secretly inside all these years.  I would like for the world to know that me too.  I want out.  I just want out.

AND THAT’S WHY I WASN’T NAMED GRACE

AND THAT’S WHY I WASN’T NAMED GRACE!

Today I had a meeting with my boss.    As I got up to leave his office, I felt my foot catch on something.  All I could think of is, “I’m caught in his phone cord.”  Of course being the dancer (in my head) that I am, I tried twirling a bit to free myself.  It didn’t work.

You know that feeling when you know you are going to fall.  And it’s seems like it is in slow motion.  It’s coming.  It’s coming.  BOOM!  You hit the floor.  My knees hit the hardest.  And then my face hit.  Fortunately I turned my face to the side.    There I was:  face down, completely prone.

As I’m lying on the floor in all my glory, my boss jumps up.  “Are you ok?”  Hahahahaha  is what I wanted to say.  Instead I said, “I’ll tell you in a couple of minutes.”

Now, I’ve fallen on my knees (get your mind out of the gutter) many times.  It has happened so many times that I literally have no cushion in my knees.  My kids know that when Mom falls, they have to get a pillow to go under my knees so I can rise.

Well, there are no cushions in our office.  I kept thinking, “what is here that I could put under my knees so I can get up?”  All I could think of was my Texans T-shirt draped over the visitor chair in my office.  Don’t even ask why that was in my office.

My boss is very concerned with the phone cord.  “That cord has been like that for years.  How did that happen?”  “I guess I just caught my foot in it.”  “But why today?  It’s never happened before?”  “I don’t know, maybe I’m supposed to be celebrating you coming in twice in two days.”  He says, “What do you want me to do?”  “Just push your chair in front of me and stand behind it.  I’ll pull myself up.”

I finally got my lusciousness up.  I almost laughed out loud thinking about what I must have looked like getting up and then I thought, “thank goodness I wasn’t wearing a skirt or dress.”

My knees are scraped, my ankle hurts, and even my rib cage hurts.  I’m not too sore but who knows what tomorrow will bring?  Hopefully, I will be pain free.  I have a lunch date!

What’s the point of all this you ask?  Incidents like today are the reason why I wasn’t named Grace.

INSIDE OUT AND OUTSIDE IN

INSIDE OUT AND OUTSIDE IN

Skinny Fiber.  Ya'll have seen the changes it has brought in my appearance over the past 1 ½ years.  No, I didn't drop 100 pounds in 30 days.  My weight loss has been slow and steady.  I've had my ups and downs.  I have hit plateaus and felt like I was marooned on a desert island.  BUT I have kept at it.  I keep taking my Skinny Fiber and when I stumble I get back up and start anew.

The changes in my appearance and health have been awesome and amazing.  But I have to tell you that the changes on the inside of me have been unbelievable.  The first time I met people from the Skinny Fiber family was August 2013.  I was a sad, unhappy, unmotivated person who had given up on many things in life.  I felt like a lump.  I looked like a lump.  And to be honest, I thought I deserved to be treated like a lump.

I am not that person today.  Anyone who met me or even knew me back then can tell you what a difference there is in me.  Not just my looks.  My outlook.  My attitude.  My thinking.  How I react to things.  How I look at things.  I have people tell me, "you have changed so much since I first met you.  You are not the same person."  And you know what?  They are right!

I'm not.  I have changed from the inside out and the outside in.  The person who was always on the inside looking out has busted the door down and is now living on the outside.

The best Valentine I got was from someone I went to school with from elementary school through high school.  For those who don’t know, that would be over 50 years ago I first met her!  J  She made a post to me saying that I looked beautiful and happy.  Her words blew my heart up!  I can truly say (and I do often) I am happy.  Happy, blessed and content.

And it all started that day back in July 2013 when I decided, "I'm going to try once more to lose weight."  Change.  Inside out and outside in.  That is what Skinny Fiber has done for me.

It can do it for you too.  Just decide to try one more time.  You deserve it.  Click here and come join me on this incredible journey!  www.caryncann.com

MY FIRST DESIGNER PURSE!

MY FIRST DESIGNER PURSE!

I'm almost 62 years old.  I've never been one to reward myself.  Before my kids arrived, I was the best aunt and sister around.  I was always looking for things that others might enjoy.    Once I had children, they came first!

I remember about 5 years ago, my friend, Marisela, said to me, "Girl, all you do is work and then go home.  Why work all the time if you never do anything you enjoy doing?"  She convinced me to just start getting out and eventually travelling.

Now I do 3 things for myself on a regular basis.  I get my nails and toes done and I get my hair done.

Two weeks ago I decided that at my age I deserved to have a designer purse.  I've never had one.  I've never cared much for purses.  In fact, the only purse I have ever loved is the TEXAN purse that Marisela got me for Christmas 2013.

I bought me an Anne Klein purse.  It’s a teal blue with a vibrant green lining!  It is beautiful but  took me over a week to start using it!  When I get new things I tend to "keep them".  Not sure what I'm keeping them for but I'm trying to break that habit!  lol

I love this Anne Klein purse.  When I carry it, I feel like a million bucks.  It just makes me feel better.  It doesn't make me better, but it's like a little secret I have with myself.  In my head I hear, "You are worth having a designer purse."  And I am.

And it's much more fulfilling than those 12 fudgcicles I used to eat to make myself feel better!  I plan to buy me a new designer purse at least once a year.   Of course, only on sale and with discounts!  ‘Cause that’s how we do it!   <3

I FEEL PRETTY!!!!

I FEEL PRETTY!!!!

WHY YOU SHOULD TAKE UPDATE PICTURES WHILE LOSING WEIGHT

When you take a new update picture it gives you tangible evidence that you are losing weight even if the scale is standing still.  Sometimes we get so caught up on the numbers that we forget our body does not always reflect the number on the scale when we are losing.  I can tell you that I didn’t lose a pound jogging miles every day.  However, I did build a lot of muscle in my thighs, calves and hips.   And that was reflected in those 3 areas becoming much smaller!

If you take an update picture and can see a difference when you put it side by side with your beginning picture, it can keep you motivated.  The past 6 months has been a trying time for me.  I felt like I was just a blob.    I didn’t feel as healthy (probably cause I wasn’t jogging).  I was tired all the time.  I wasn’t eating as well.  It all takes its toll.

I decided to pamper myself.  Got my nails and toes done.  Then I got a perm, cut and color.  Bought me some new earrings and a blouse or two.  My daughter took my picture and when I pizap’d it, I could really see the difference!  When I look at my new picture, all I can think is “I look darn cute for someone almost 62!

Don’t get frustrated with slow weight loss or even a plateau.  Just keep eating healthy.  Everyone wants to lose a lot of weight fast.  Trouble is, that weight tends to come back fast.  Doctors and nutritionists will tell you that slow weight loss is best and has a better chance of staying off.

If it takes me 2 or even 3 more years to get to my goal weight, I’m ok with that.  I’ll be the same age whether I lose weight, stay the same or gain weight.  I choose to keep losing.

Do yourself a favor.  Take update pictures every couple of months and pizap them so you can really see the difference in your body.  You will be amazed!

No matter what eating plan you are on, you should take pictures.  And if you need that extra help losing weight, join me and start using Skinny Fiber!  No stimulants; no caffeine.  All natural plant based supplement.  Skinny Fiber has helped me and thousands of others in getting healthy and losing weight.  It can help you too!  www.caryncann.com

WHY I DON’T WEAR THONGS!

WHY I DON’T WEAR THONGS!

The last time I wore a thong (and the only time I might add) was back in 2001.  I bought several but the one I loved the most was spring green with leave appliques.  It was just so sexy and cute!

I was going to spend the weekend with my honey and I thought, now this will be a great idea!  He will be shocked and surprised when everything comes off and there will be this cute thong!

That morning I got up and slipped into that thong.  I felt good.  I felt beautiful.  I felt sexy.  As the day wore on, I was uncomfortable.  This thong was rubbing me the wrong way.  But hey!  I’m a trooper!  I endured.  For hours and hours.  The longer I was in that thong, the rawer my behind felt.

All I could think of was, why in the world would anyone wear a thong?  Sure, they are sexy.  Sure there isn’t much there.  But dang!  This thing was hurting me!  By evening, I didn’t care about taking off my clothes!  I just wanted out of this thong!

At the end of the day, I finally took that medieval piece of cloth off.  I no longer cared about being sexy in a thong.  I would just go back to my boy shorts.  As I sat on the bed with that thong in my hands, a little light came on in my head.

I started turning it and suddenly realized the problem.  I had put my legs in the wrong holes!  YES!  I HAD WORN THE FRONT IN THE BACK!

And that was the last time I wore a thong.  I decided if I couldn’t figure out how to put a thong on properly, I was not meant to wear one.  Yep, they are still sexy!  Just on someone else.

I’ve been in boy short undies ever since!

HAVE YOU GIVEN UP ON LOSING WEIGHT THIS YEAR?

HAVE YOU GIVEN UP ON LOSING WEIGHT THIS YEAR?

Since the New Year begun. are you trying to lose weight?  Start out with just one or two changes so you won't get frustrated and quit.

Here are two easy ones that everyone can do.

Drink at least 8 ounces of water a day.   This is in addition to any other liquid you have.  You will find that the more water you drink, the less you will want other liquids.  I know it's hard to believe but it is true!  Your body craves water, not just liquid.

Don't skip meals.  Especially breakfast!   You know why they call it breakfast?  Because you are breaking the fast you have been on for 10-12 hours.  Once you eat, you start your body up, like a car engine.  Until you eat, your battery is just sitting there.  You aren't even idling.  Your key hasn't been turned on.

It doesn't have to be an elaborate breakfast.  I start my day with a protein shake.  Protein powder, 1 tbsp of oatmeal, 1 tsp of peanut butter, 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk and a cup of ice.  I drink that on my way to work.  Almost all protein.  It keeps me full for 3-4 hours!  Make you some scrambled eggs.  Throw in some bacon!  Eat a bowl of oatmeal and fruit.  Whatever strikes your fancy that is healthy!

Start your day with a glass of water and then get your breakfast going.  Your body will thank you!  You will feel better, more alert and enerergized!  Try it for a week and see what happens!

If you need extra help in getting on track, try Skinny Fiber!  We have a 30 day money back guarantee!  What do you have to lose but weight?

THE MYSTERY OF THE TREE ROACH!

I know most people know what roaches are but I'm not sure how many people outside Texas (and maybe other southern states) know what tree roaches are.  Tree roaches range in length from over an inch to about 3 inches.  They are HUGE!

When I lived in East Texas we were always told they usually were near the railroad tracks.  Not true in Houston.  The worst thing about tree roaches is they FLY!  Like Spiders!

They don't want your food.  They want your water.  They usually crawl up your water pipes looking for water.  If they don't find water, they die of dehydration.  We usually see them in the heat of summer when there is little rain.

Currently, it seems Houston has decided to be Asia and it feels like we are in the monsoon season!   It has been raining continually since Tuesday.  Today the sun has peeked out but the cold has replaced the rain.  It's going to get colder and probably more rain starting tomorrow.  This gal is not a happy camper.  I can do rain or cold but not both.  But I digress.

This morning I go to the bathroom and there is a huge tree roach.  I'm thinking, "fella, I think you are lost".  He is walking around in circles in my shower.  I'm thinking he is delirious from lack of water but how?  I'm sure there is enough water in the pipes (and certainly the yard) to store up reserves for oh, I don't know, 5 years?

I watch him for a few minutes to see if he is going to die on his own.  He looks pretty plump to me.  And then I notice something white right above his big old tree roach head.   I go over and bend down and realize it is a little sign.  On it is written, "I'm looking for Noah's Ark.  I'm the other tree roach."

And there you have it!  Case closed!
