THE LOVE OF MY LIFE

THE LOVE OF MY LIFE

This is one of my favorite pictures of Jim and our son, Cody, when Cody was 2.

August 16, 2014 the love of my life, Jim Cannatella, ended his struggle and went home to be with the Lord. The one thing I wanted more than anything when we were married was children. He made sure that dream came true for me when we adopted Ashlie and Cody. We are all sad at his passing but so grateful that his long suffering is over and that he is at peace.

Jim and I had a great marriage for over 20 years. It was when we both gave up that the marriage ended. I hope if you are married you will take the time to make your marriage work. I don't live with regrets but I know we could have made it work if we had tried harder.

I'm so glad Ashlie and Cody were with me after his passing. I am especially grateful that Daniel Calderon was there, not just for Ashlie but all of us. And the person Ashlie, Cody, and I are most grateful to is an angel named Janet Atkins. She was Jim's home care provider for the past two years. The last couple of months she hardly left his side even when she wasn't being paid for it. There are not many people like Janet Atkins around. We are forever indebted to her.

Jim is being cremated and his ashes will be spread at a place he shared with the kids growing up. He said he always wanted them to be able to go there and know that he was all around.

I know you are always with me and the kids, Jim. We had a good run and you will always and forever be the love of my life. Spread your wings and fly, baby. You are completely free now. Love, Caryn

I AM JUST NORMAL

I AM JUST NORMAL

For those of you who have never been overweight, you probably won't understand this.  For those who have, well, I hope this will encourage and inspire you.

Anyone who hangs out with me much can tell you that I have to pee a lot.  Probably because of all the water I drink.  It's like I have to go to every bathroom anywhere I go.

But here was the problem.  The regular bathrooms are small and the door opens inward.  Getting in or out was tight and uncomfortable.  Also the toilets are low to the floor, which makes getting up difficult for an overweight person.  And when your a big person trying to do your business, well, it's difficult to maneuver in those little stalls!

So, I always opted for the handicapped.  They are bigger, the door opens out (which all stalls should have) and the toilet is higher off the ground.  But I can tell you, most people do not consider fatness to be worthy of a handicapped stall.

Before I entered the dr's office today, I, of course, had to use the bathroom.  You never know if that last time will reduce your weight!  lol  I went in a regular stall and was just amazed!  No problem going in or out.  I was able to get up and down with ease.  Taking care of my business was nothing!  When I left the stall to wash my hands, I looked in the mirror and realized something.

I am just normal.  What a great feeling that was!

ANGRY WORDS

ANGRY WORDS

I know this has happened to all of us. Someone is having a bad day and they start saying just the worst things to you about you. Their words hurt. You feel like you are doing great. Or you did until they started talking. Instead of supporting you they choose to tear you down.
When they leave and you can breathe again, just sit in quiet for a minute. Think about the words they used as weapons against you. Were they truly about you or were they just projecting their own insecurities and failings onto you.
I can tell you, it hurts to be on the receiving end. Especially if the person spewing it is a person you love and one who is suppose to love you.
Words can hurt. Words can destroy. Words can leave scars that never show and never heal. Be careful. Sometimes when you are using such harsh words, the person you should be directing them to is the person who lives in your mirror.

CHANGING YOUR NAME

CHANGING YOUR NAME

How would you feel if your child decided to change their name?

My son wants to change his name.  He wants to drop his first name, change the spelling of his middle name and only use that name with his last name.  He promised his dad he would wait until he passed since his dad gave him his first name.

To be honest, it doesn't matter to me.  Whatever makes him happy.  And how could his dad or I say anything when we both changed our names?  Jim's was legally changed; I changed mine 30 years ago but not legally.  Even family members used our new names.

The only reason I put (Debby Moore) on my Facebook page is so the people I knew as a kid would recognize who I am now.  I was never a Debby.  In fact, it just sounds so odd when someone (even a dr) refers to me by that name.  From the minute I decided to go by Caryn, I have always felt at home.  The only people who refer to me as Debby/Debra are the government, or anything legal.  Even my friends of more than 40 years call me Caryn.  Jim was the same way.  He was never a Mike; he was always a Jim.  My boss thinks it is funny to sometimes call me "Debra".  When he does, I just call him by his brother's name.  He gets the point.

So, Cody Javier, if you want to change your name to Xavier, I'm good with it.  I know he feels that Xavier fits him and that's all that matters to me!

I COMPLETED MY FIRST 5K!

I COMPLETED MY FIRST 5K!

I did it!  I finished my first 5K jogging all the way in less than 45 minutes!  That's a 15 min mile....my goal!   It was a .75 mile walk each way, to and from the event and another 1.5 or so miles just walking everywhere.  The event lasted 5.5 hours and when we finished the event, WE LEFT!  It continued on with music for another hour!  My miles today were 7.7, the most ever!

So here's what I want to say to everyone.  Don't let anyone or anything keep you from setting goals and working to meet them.  Who would have ever believed that a 61 yr old woman who weighed 235 pounds and couldn’t walk a block a year ago and hadn’t run in 50 years could have started this course 6 weeks ago at zero and achieved completing a 5K, jogging all the way?

I have learned that 90% is mental and 10% is physical.  If you can achieve the mental, you can achieve the physical.  It's always the mental that keeps you from accomplishing your goals!

Next goal?  A 10K by the end of October.  Uh huh, these legs will look great for that cruise in November!  Now who is gonna join me in moving their body for the next 10 weeks?

WHERE WOULD I BE?

WHERE WOULD I BE?

Sometimes I wonder where I would be if I hadn't started using Skinny Fiber in July 2013.

I know this for sure:

1. I would weigh more than I did then.
2. I would probably be unable to walk even a block.
3. I would still be on medication for high blood pressure, acid reflux, arthritis and fibromyalgia.
4. I would be wearing a bigger size, closer to a size 30.
5. I would be more miserable than I was.
6. My confidence and self-esteem would be non-existent.
7. I would think there was no hope for me.

What a difference a year makes! Do any of these things ring true for you?  If so, why don't you just give Skinny Fiber a try. We have a money back 30 day empty bottle guarantee. Try it for yourself. You will find out what I did. You are worth it! You deserve to lose weight and be healthy!

THERE’S ALWAYS AN EXCUSE TO OVEREAT!

THERE’S ALWAYS AN EXCUSE TO OVEREAT!

I have been on this losing weight spinning wheel for 53 years.  My first diet was when I was 8 years old and in the third grade.  It doesn’t matter how it started or what caused it.  What matters is the damage that the extra weight has caused to me physically, emotionally and mentally.  At 61 I am finally figuring it out and learning how to change it to be lose weight, become healthy, and get fit.

I tell you this to let you know I have been there.  I have done it all.  I have tried everything to lose weight.  Just not the right way.  Whatever you are feeling, I have felt it.  Whatever you have been through, I have been there.  Whatever you wish for your life, I have shared those same wishes.  Whatever excuses you have made for not losing weight, I have made them and probably more.

Now, I’ll tell you.  I’ve never been a big eater at meals.  I’ve always eaten small portions and rarely had seconds.  But meals were not my downfall.  My downfall was those times alone, in my bedroom, with no one around.  I’m a secret eater.  Yeah, I’ve eaten 36 homemade cookies in a few hours and then made another batch so no one would know.  I’ve opened a pound of M&M’s and before I knew it the bag was empty.  I lied to myself.  Over and over.

And that was not the only problem.  I could always find an excuse to eat.  There is always one.  Someone hurt my feelings.  I’m mad.  I’m happy.  I’m sad.  I don’t have a man in my life.  I can’t stand the man in my life.  I wish I had children.  My children are driving me crazy.  Someone died.  I’m ugly.  I have pretty eyes.  I’ll start a diet after the holidays.  I’m having surgery.

Whatever you tell yourself to justify overeating, it’s just an excuse.  Really what it comes down to is that we think we deserve to stuff our faces no matter how many calories it is and no matter what the reason is.  Truly, we don’t have to have a reason or an excuse.  We just have to have some food available at the time.  And how many times have you gotten in your car (cause us fat people don’t walk) and driven to a fast food restaurant, an ice cream place or even the grocery store to pick up something that you could eat just because?  I have.  Too many 100’s of times to count.

And then, we wonder why we are fat.  Well, not really.  We know why we are fat but we choose to act like we don’t.   We know.  Deep down in that black hole we keep trying to fill with food, we know.   At some point when you are alone and quiet, you know the truth.

Each of us has to decide when we are tired of lying to ourselves and ready to face the truth.  For me that came when I started taking Skinny Fiber and began to lose weight.  The more I tweaked my food, the more I lost.  The more I moved, the more my body changed.  I decided to leave the excuses behind.  If I overeat on occasion I just admit it, forget it, and get back on my plan within 24 hours.  It isn’t the occasional overeating that’s the problem.  It’s the choosing to live there that is.

Decide for yourself if you have been making excuses to justify overeating and then trying to ignore the truth.  If you have you need to make peace with your decision or you need to decide to make a change.  If you want to change, contact me.  We can get healthy and lose weight together.  I’m living proof.

BUT I WANT TO EAT OUT

BUT I WANT TO EAT OUT!

We all do.  However, it is very difficult to eat out all the time and lose weight.  There are several reasons why and I’m gonna tell you what they are!  I have friends tell me how they want to lose weight and then they eat out 4-6 times a week and usually at unhealthy restaurants.  I’m sorry to be the one to tell but you will not lose weight.

First, you don’t know what goes in the food you eat at fast food places or even restaurants!  And you certainly don’t know how many calories you are consuming!  I heard just this morning that one of the burgers at Red Robin has 3500 calories!  3500 CALORIES!!!!  That is 2 ½ days for me in one meal!  No thanks!  A 4 piece steak finger basket at DQ has 1600 calories!  Go ahead and eat it if you must!  But realize you shouldn’t put another thing (but water) in your mouth until the following day!  Oh, and these totals don’t include a sugary drink!  Besides all the calories you consume, you are not going to feel good.  Most restaurants don’t use fresh whole foods.  I know I know!  There are a few who do but trust me they still have dishes with umpteen calories and you know those ooey gooey selections are the ones we fat people want!

When you are trying to lose weight you should eat at home for the most part and cook your meals for breakfast and lunch to take with you.  When you cook, you know what ingredients you are using.  You don’t have to guess about any secret ingredients that will wreck whatever eating program you are on.  Also when you cook at home, you can use whole foods.  Real foods.  Foods that aren’t processed and full of chemicals.  Food that your body naturally knows how to break down and digest.

The last thing is portion control.  Most meals at restaurants are not portioned for one meal.  When I do eat out, the first thing I do when my meal arrives is ask for a to-go box.  Then I take half the food and put it in the carton to take home.  I only eat half of what I ordered for my meal.  I might not know exactly how many calories are in the meal or what “extras” were added, but I know I have cut the calories by half!  Sometimes I actually get 3 meals out of their one serving!

Now, I admit it is much easier for me to do this since I started taking Skinny Fiber over a year ago because it helps me feel full faster.  However, I portion my breakfast and lunch servings when I cook them at home.  I don’t want to guess.  I want to know that when I eat a bowl of homemade chili for lunch it is only 1 cup.  And trust me that takes some getting used to!  Find you a container and fill it with 8 ounces.  I’m betting it’s not what you are used to eating.  I know I was shocked!

Eating is not supposed to be a sport to stuff ourselves until we are so miserable we can hardly walk!  It is to nourish our bodies and give us energy.  Staying away from restaurants and fast food places helps.  So does buying whole foods and cooking at home.

If you are truly serious about losing weight, start out by only eating what you prepare at home.  You’ll save money and lose weight!
